It's the little things that hurt

So Friday night a winged insect decides that it would like to suck the blood out of my left elbow. Slightly less than the tax man takes but still not given freely.

Saturday Morning I have a trackday booked at Llandow. So with a dose of Antihistemean off I went. I did Three sessions and my left arm looked like Popeyes.

So off to the minor injuries unit, where my arm was now even bigger and hot. After being asked to describe the fly ( I obviously looked like Bill Oddy) I was told to continue with the treatment that I was already doing.

Monday Arm has gone down to just a little swollen.

Tuesday drove to Luton and my arm starts to swell again to popeye proportions. So back to GP and now on two different sets of Peniccillian with 500mg doses of each and the warning that if this does not go down in two or three days it is off to hospital for intrevenouse drugs.

How on earth can a small insect cause so much pain. I did kill it so it will do no more harm, but at the moment that is small consulation.

I do not like insects or spiders. My Mother would pick up spiders and stick the under my nose chanting "it's only a spider" I was about 5 at the time. She did this until I left home. She once did it to HM and my Mother was lucky she didn't get a right hook.

However, I had an itchy ear yesterday so got a hair clip to have a good deep scrape. I could hear something clicking and eventually pulled an insect shell out. It was dead and I think the rest of it came out looking like dried up earwax. I know where it probably came from, off a tree I had gone past when cutting the grass with the tractor. I get lots of insects crawling all over me and the inside of the tractor when I do this.
