I'm sure if it's a French hire car it will comply with French law.

It may not have a breathalyzer kit as, though it's law, it isn't being enforced as the manufacturers can't supply the demand. I'd read that as they don't want to make them for a Euro retail.

You're an hour and bit away from us, if you get time, why not pop in. I assume you're flying in the Rennes Airport, St Jacques.

One word of warning, don't bring a SatNav that has camera locations on it. It's illegal and they will confiscate the SatNav and a hefty fine.

Norm I was reading up on this - tom toms have what they called ''danger zones'' rather than speed camera warnings (pre installed on new models and downloadable for old), you can also download a declaration of conformity

Is it worth the risk. To put it another way, if you're stopped by a man with a gun are you going to argue over "camera warnings" and "danger zones". They all speak English, until you start to argue and then it's pay up, satnav confiscated and Allez.

I've had a TomTom since the very first model, it cost me £600. I've used it once to find a back street in Rennes in the old industrial quarter.

The latest Tom Tom "danger zone" is legal to use in France ;)  ;)  got mine all sorted and up to date

Bon Vacances Terry - triangle & vests, should be in the hire car - however when you collect it make sure and check they are - if not get the hirers to provide them. Breathlysers legislation looking likely to be dropped certainly not law yet

and do be careful drink drive limit is much lower in France and Grimbergen is 6.8%
