Cam Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Has anyone been to the Belgium Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps in a motorhome? Quite fancy going in August and wondered if there is any recommendations for campsites near the track. Don't mind being a bit away as we can go from the campsite to the track on the scooter. We have been to Spa a few years ago to a trackday and stopped in a local hotel, but fancy the motorhome this time. Anything else I need to think about? Quote
Mid life crisis Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Not sure if this is of any use Cam, eyes glazed over at the number of posts You may find some usefull info though http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g230026-i1031-k2495418-o60-Camping_at_Belgium_F1_grand_prix-Spa_Liege_Province_Wallonia.html Quote
Sparkymart Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I went to spa for the le Mans series and the only place we could find was called the racing hotel only 5 minute's walk from the track http://www.francorchamps-racing-hotel.be/en/home-29.php sound lovely on the Website but OMG it was the worst campsite I've ever stayed in the gents looks were so bad your eyes burned with the fumes. I'll try and get some pics up later. But there is lots of fields around which I'm sure would be used for campsites at F1 weekend but no idea how you could find out Quote
Sparkymart Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Racing hotel Spa (campsite) and last but not least the open air swimming pool Dont say you haven't been warned lol Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Spa is the best F1 track but has the worst facilities of any circuit. Been once and wouldn't rush back Quote
Cam Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 Thanks for the advice all. Sounds like a bad idea then......................... go to plan B ....................... BTCC at Knockhill instead. Quote
Sparkymart Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Go to Spa , you wont regret itLike pistonbroke says you won't regret it it's an amazing circuit worth putting up with the bad campsite just to watch the race there Quote
AdamR Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 As said, facilities a bit lacking but it's a great place and a brilliant circuit. Well worth walking round a complete lap if you can, Eau Rouge is soooo steep (21% gradient!). Quote
