Steve_Farrimond Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Out of pure curiosity I am trying to build a bit of a history about my car. What I was told by Andrew from Toybox car sales in Derby; “My mate bought a warehouse, and this car was in the building, and the cars been sorn for the past 5 years. Now this is perfectly understandable and the car has been off the road (legally at least) since 2007-2012 I contacted the last owner By letter who lived in Holmfirth, according to the log book since 2004 until my purchase in November 2012. The home that this owner lived in hasn’t been sold since 1998, so I felt like I had a chance. 8 weeks later I received my letter back from the post office saying that it was unable to be delivered??? So the car was owned from 2004-Nov 2012 when I bought it. But I have just been arranging the paper work and found this; This shows that the car was purchased by another party, does anyone know of this company? Why did it not show on the log book??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Hellski Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 My understanding is that if a vehicle is purchased by a motor trader the V5 documentation does not have to register this transfer and a separate section is completed accordingly; I'm sure others will correct me if I'm incorrect. Goggle search shows nothing on MS Automotive and the address is residential but according to Zoopla there's been no change of ownership, so may well be worth sending a letter to them? Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 MSAUTOMOTIVE A London based insurance broker. Steve, all I can say, as an ex motor dealer, is don't believe everything a dealer tells you. I was in Holmfirth a few weeks ago (lovely second hand bookshop there). Why don't you pop over and knock on the door? Quote
JeffC Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 that name on the green part of the V5 has been filled in to get the road tax out in Leeds on the date in the post office stamp at that office, so that means that the name must have to match the insurance doc to get tax. so Ms Automotive have taxed the car but not necessarily owned it, I do it for people all the time. Terry Everall Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I lived in Swillington for many years just about 100m from 34 Neville Grove It is a private house Quote
Steve_Farrimond Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 Hellski - thanks, i'll send a letter to that address. Norman - I think i'll take a drive over there at some point. been there loads of times but not recently. Jeff C - that makes sense, so looks like it might be a dead end. I'll send a letter just in case. Terry - I'm guessing that you never saw the car or had anything to do with them? Quote

geoffd Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 You can ask the DVLA for the history of your vehicle. I did this - it took a while, but I got contact details for all the previous owners, and all but the first replied to my enquiries. It only cost £5. Geoff Quote
FILFAN Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I may do that with my car as I'm curious about some aspects of its present form Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I lived in Swillington for many years just about 100m from 34 Neville Grove It is a private house I lived on Swillington Rd and in deed it is a private address never remembered any yellow westy round there. I've also sent Charlie A message to see if it was his westy I'll let you know once he replies. If he doesn't come back ill have a check on the C2C DVD's to see if if the reg is on there it's been a long time since I last saw Charlie in the yellow westy I know he didn't use it for a long while when he split up from Karen and married that dog Asbo Buzz Quote
Paul Aspden Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 So, if it's Charlies' old car then it's the ex Richard Carrol zetec. Spec is something like Zetec MT75, floor mounted pedals(I recall throttle cable failure) RAC roll bar. In short a typical speed sport. I would have thought that Richard would recognise the car and someone on here might have his contact details. Quote
