Young Pretender Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Long shot.. but here goes. Keith, the older looking chap in pink below is a caterham owner. He has doors with mirrors built in but wants to loose the doors for the summer and fit some mirrors to the window frame. BUt he doesn't want to drill any holes. So any ideas how we can fit them? Caterham sell what are effectively hinges that could slot into where the doors would mount the window frame but that would leave a bit of hinged metal flapping about in the middle. Ideally that would be secured to the frame by some kind of fixing that wouldn't require any drilling. If you can understand me, that's great, if you can help, even better Quote
BEN99W Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Check out the likes of car builder solutions and demon tweeks et al, for their selection of mirrors. They have some which clamp on which ought to do the job. Ben Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I've only ever seen mirrors screwed into the .scuttle. The "proper" mirrors are screwd into the side screens. A Mini type mirror (early Mini with sliding windows had a clamp mirror for the window channel) may be modified to clamp on the windscreen upright. Quote
Young Pretender Posted June 8, 2013 Author Posted June 8, 2013 I didn't realise you could get clip ons. Sounds perfect. Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 YP, is this what you need? HERE This may go straight onto the screen upright. Quote
BEN99W Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 With respect, there are more attractive alternatives available if you search the sites I referenced. I'm on a phone so can't do a link for you, but the are some nice round clip-ons I'd be going for. Ben Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Ben, that site has round ones as well as square. I linked to the square as they seem to have a larger viewing area. I'll find the round ones now. Quote
Young Pretender Posted June 8, 2013 Author Posted June 8, 2013 Thanks Ben and Norm. I've already sent Keith a link to one on demon tweeks which looks reasonable and costs approx £17.50 each. Will send him this link too cheers Norm. They are the perfect solution though so I'm sure he will be grateful for the pointers. Cheers Mark Quote
