ianswesty
I am going on a road trip to Monaco in August in the Westy with my son. I have bought a half hood and doors for any inclement weather and a boot bag for the clothes but I am after some advice on what to wear especially on the head on the hot days (I do burn easily in the sun ) I could put up the hood to keep the rays off but that sort of defeats the purpose of the trip in the sun!!!!!!.............. Any ideas would be appreciated. Ian

Pistol Pete
Seen smokey in a bandana which looks quite cool and stays on better than a baseball cap. What route are you going? Enjoy.
Norman Verona
A Westfield Club long sleeved T shirt and a Westfield club beanie hat. Also wrap all the clothes in bin liners and seal the ends with gaffer tape. Have a great trip and enjoy it. Be careful of speed traps although I've never seen them on the Autoroutes. Tere are fixed cameras but most, if not all are well signed. The French are very fair, there is a sign showing radio waves and something like Pour votre securite - for your safety. The camera will be 1 km after this sign and there will always be a reminder of the limit before the camera. ianswesty
Seen smokey in a bandana which looks quite cool and stays on better than a baseball cap. What route are you going? Enjoy. Thanks everyone.... Route we are taking is... first stop Nancy Davos but stopping at Mullhouse to see the motor museum Bormio and up and down and up and down the Stelvio, fuel seems to be an issue here with not many petrol stations!!!! Monza Menton for 3 days Monaco, Col-du-Turini, Casino, F1 lap Chichillane Mont Blanc Tunnel Geneva St Dizier Home Got all the vests, triangles, breath testers, bulbs etc
Norman Verona
I won't swear to this but the hi-viz vests are mandatory and must be kept in the car as you have to have them on before you get out of the car on a main road. One is enough as long as the passenger stays in the car. Breathalyzers have been dropped for the moment. I also can't find where it's mandatory to have spare bulbs, I think it's advisory. I thing you're supposed to have a warning triangle. However our cars never breakdown, do they?
clansman
LOL I was thinking the very same question too , unfortunately my trip will be in the opposite direction heading north home, with the great British weather to second guess. Once I pick the car up that is !
Mark (smokey mow)
Seen smokey in a bandana which looks quite cool and stays on better than a baseball cap.yes, they're Buff's that I wear. On long trips I find them useful as they keep the top of my head from burning and stay put much better than hats as the speeds climb. If i turns chilly it also keeps my head warm and can be pulled down to cover ears. http://www.buffwear.co.uk/buff-headwear/original-buff
