exhaust wrap / fire blacket, same stuff ?

hi all,

 

was looking into buying some exhaust wrap for a teeny weeny job, but i have a few fire blankets in the garage (dunno why), and was wondering if they are the same material ?

They're different material. Fire blankets tend to harden when exposed to extreme temperature and aren't designed to retain heat over prolonged period. However, it'll depend on what your application is .. if it's moderate heat then it should be suffice.
