I knew the Churchill question as I've read about the incident many times. He was criticized by some Etonians for poor grammar so the next day he phrased his answer that way.

My excuse is that I used to write speeches and scripts for a living.

In fact my second proudest career achievement is that a very senior politician asked me to be their retained writer. As I regard the individual as a duplicitous, sneering nunney this led to my proudest achievement: I turned the offer down!

Brian, I know who your talking about. He speaks very highly of you as well.  :)

 

On a serious note haven't you just described every politician we have. That was a sweeping generalisation, there may be one or two who are there to serve us and not themselves.
