Norman Verona Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Why would he go back to Chelsea when he can walk into the best paid job in football? Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 I admire David Moyes, he's done a wonderful job at Everton. However many fans won't want an ex toffee and he's not won much, maybe because of a tight budget. Whereas Muriniho has been very successful and I said some months ago when it was rumored he would be coming back to the premiership, that he was getting ready to step into Fergies shoes. Not sure Ferguson's retirement should be first before the state opening of parliament. Maybe that says something about us. Quote
Young Pretender Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Kept saying Moyes on the radio.. Perhaps murinho doesn't play the long game? Quote
SteveD Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I would totally expect they have someone lined up , united/ferguson would not go without someone being ready to take over ,he wouldn't leave them manager less , I suspect moyes or gaurdiola as they are a long term bet ,I cant see them going for short term managers isn't ferguson having major hip operation at the end of the season so suspect he would want down time anyway but would expect him to stay on as a advisor or such like Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 He's been elected to the board and, I think I heard, will be "Director of Football", whatever that means. A few years ago I thought the only home grown manager who could take over was Martin O'Neill. He seems to have lost that spark. I think it all started when his wife was reported to be seriously ill. We'll see who takes over in due course. Quote
peterg Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Mourinho would go back to Chelski in preference to MU as he's loved there and he said he wants to be somewhere he is loved MU - best paid manager in football? hmmm, I think Abramovich has deeper pockets if it gets him who/what he wants Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Pete, he may have deep pockets but he can also have short arms. I've thought of all the managers who have credentials for the job and can only come up with the special one. He has a close relationship with Sir Alex and I think the fans will love him - if he keeps up the success. Put it this way, if he does take over would you bet MU won't make the Champions league final next year? Quote
martyblues Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 United would not have "the special one" because there are no special ones at the club. its a team club from bottom to top thats why they have been so successful Quote
ajpearson Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Well well, just found out it has actually happened. Heard rumours about it on the way to work this morning, but been too busy to see the news Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Marty, so who would you like to see succeed? Quote
