Plasti-dip wheels - silver to black pics

looks good but prices vary from £10.00 to £16.00 per can.

True, I thought it was a bit pricey at first but other specialist paints like Rustoleum, Plastikote and Hammerite smooth are about £8-£12 a can at B&Q.

WheelRepair.co.uk are about £60/£70 a wheel, which granted is a proper job, but my Westfield does about 3,000 miles a year on dry roads so hopefully this stuff might last a while having an easy life. I'm not sure it will withstand a tyre change. Mine will be due for replacement next summer I think.

Wheel see how long it lasts! ;)

I've not tried it on a larger area, but from using it on wheels it seems to behave just like any other matt or satin spray - quite hard to get an even finish on larger areas. But heck, if it doesn't work, just peel it off!

Cheers. I'll give it a go and see

I used it on my rollcage i did it in cold conditions and found it hard to get any colour out of tin at d i first but once it did got good results. but it has started to peel where i get in and out the car. i protected area with clear film and they are fine.

the good thing with this paint is its easy to touch up .and i will when the weather gets warmer.

the big down side is the cost, its not cheap and their postage is even dearer. i think i ended up paying £16 for one can.

I did mine at the weekend with this. Clever stuff bonds to literally anything including wood, metal, paper....

I didn't even mask it off!

I used the same stuff. I took the wheels off and masked the edges with some card wedged between the alloy and tyre to save scraping it off afterwards. It doesn't take long to spray them its just the waiting time between coats

thats the joy of plastidip tho isnt it? if they do get scuffed you just peel it all off and start again.

I had mine powder coated in black satin by a local company 20 quid a wheel cash :d

The decals were copied from the originals by a guy I know at a local sign company, cost me nout :d  :d  :t-up:

Here's one at Stoneleigh on Sunday.

Yes Dom just 'normal' sign maker self adhesive vinyl, they are only 12mm high and I told him what radius they needed to be, input that into the cnc cutter and away you go, he did me a few spares as well  :t-up:

Edit to add: the wheels were originally anthracite, but after 8 years they were showing their age.
