1999 BMW 523i SE - 1 owner (Reduced!)

Selling on behalf of my old man, thought I'd offer it to you guys before having to deal with the general public.

1999 BMW 523i SE, automatic, 1 owner from new and just 61k miles. Full service history, last was an inspection 2 with brake fluid change. 4 green lights left. Tax until end of July. MOT until June 16th but happy to stick another 12 months on that. Overall it's been incredibly well looked after. Always serviced on time, even the original first aid kit, tool kit and torch are all there.

The usual E39 5 series refinements, so climate control, cruise control, cd changer, dedicated lane on the motorway and all that. It's on 16" wheels so the ride is really very good. I took it up to my partners parents recently and frankly I'm quite tempted to have it for myself. Nowhere to park it though :(

There's also a Bury phone kit for which you could find the right cradle for your phone or just get a bluetooth cradle.

A few minor blemishes which I'll take photos of but overall this car seems to be in really good condition. It does seem to be one of those 1 owner from new, well looked after cars that pop up every now and again.

I'm sure it would suit someone as a great daily driver, motorway cruiser or fit a tow bar and you've got a pretty comfortable tow vehicle.

Anyway - pictures. Unfortunately the weather Gods didn't see fit to furnish me with dry weather this afternoon but hoping to get out there with the soapy stuff tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be breaking the vacuum cleaner out too!

61k miles, never raced or rallied, no lady owners

Defects

As I say, I've not washed it yet but a walk round brought out these.

I presume my silly old man reversed into a low wall, or a low wall drove into him. We all know how flighty those things get in car parks

Only spot of rust I can find. Arches seem clear.

Not a single dent on this vehicle!

Loads of paperwork including original order. Options of note above the SE pack appears to be the 16" wheels, fold down rear seats (lockable) and floor mats which he spectacularly failed to get thrown in for free.

WSCC price is £1,750 ovno £1,495 fixed which looking around seems fair. I'd say it's the best 523i SE out there at the moment though would admit that's not a great claim to fame...

Might be interested, any photo's?

I'm popping over there this afternoon so will sort some photos out. In the meantime, I've found it hidden in the background of one of my other photos.

Plate is still on it, could be flogged to some Audi A5 owner I guess?

Oh, reason for sale is he's now got a Motability car, hence why the plate hasn't been transferred across.

I've now updated the first post with some photos and a bit more info. Will give it a good clean and more thorough appraisal tomorrow.

Consulted with the old man, reduced the price

Going for sale with the general public after next weekend.

I'll chat to Mrs C, sounds a steal. Can see few minor issues, but nothing big or worrying. Be an ideal motorway car for us. But will Mrs C let me have three cars?

Oh, where in the country are you?

Posted

Oh, is that plate with it?

I'd rather the old man kept it, it's got to be worth a few hundred quid.

Just spoke to the one that controls the money. She said if you still have it in July, after our holiday in June, we'll have it.

Know it's not much help for right now, but it's better than saying yes and messing you about with waiting for money.

No worries mate, it'd make an ideal motorway car. Plate will stay with it as my old man doesn't want to go through the hassle of getting it on his motability car. It's up for sale separately though and if it does indeed sell I'd get that knocked off the asking price.

I was just going to buy it from you when I noticed it's an Auto.

I vowed the day I drove an auto was the day I was to be put down.

I think I need to think about changing my A6.

I must admit I'm a convert - big engine'd autos have become the staple diet of my daily drivers. Of course, it may just be the big engines that I like!

If I can't play with a stick with a k**b on it I get lonely.

I was like that... Hated auto's, still do around town. However I do 200 mile motorway trips. I had an old Honda prelude 2.4 a few years ago, first ever auto. Insurance was a third of the manual!!! At 22 years old and going through a nasty divorce, this was a winner! So got it and too some getting used to! As I approached a round about (island to Brummies) I would go to put the clutch down and get second gear... Well 15 mph - stand still wasn't the plan! It drank petrol like a squaddie on pay day, except motorways. Cruise on, auto, big engine... Most economical car I've driven on motorways!

I thought Tiptronic was a Porsche thingie.

I best leave it. I'm up to my eyes in gite cleaning and we're off to the UK on 24th and so much to do that I'm going to start a night shift.

I can't believe it hasn't sold yet.

Sorry to raise your hopes unnecessarily.
