User0083 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Glad this ain't toptrumps Can you plough that straight without GPS? And,finally, is it really shorts weather down there? If only the temp could get into double figures up here Second day I've been in shorts. Birds are signing as I type! Quote
Wile E. Coyote Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Well, I've been waiting for a thread like this.. this is my other girl in my life, arrived 2 weeks ago. Rather puts the David Brown Selectamatic that my son loves trundling around on to shame! Quote
Fat Thor Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Ploughing straight is no problem, had to do it a fair few times when you lose GPS, it mainly means you can concentrate on the machine rather than looking forward all the time, it was that wet last autumn I was constantly lifting the plough when the tracks were slipping(lifts in three parts) Gps is great tool, but you still have to know what your doing. Norman Verona Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 I have a theory. In my big field I drive the tractor straight. But teh world turns under me so the line is arced. It's my theory, I'm sticking to it and I don't care if you say I'm wrong. Quote
JeffC Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Holy cow what sort of coin is that set up Well, I've been waiting for a thread like this.. this is my other girl in my life, arrived 2 weeks ago. She is 360 hp but boosts to 400 when needed. My other one is even bigger but she's no good for spring work as she is so heavy nearly 25 ton, she's a Cat865 which is 540hp (boosts to 580hp) haven't actually got photos of her from the outside. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 I think we've just found a new king of the buttons and dials. And no, I'm not going to insult your dash, I think you could probably plough my house up with that! I do think you should bring it to Stoneleigh though, you could give rides round the show ground. ajpearson Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 5 years left in the military, need to become a farmer after that I reckon Quote
alexander72 Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 AJ, I wish i could have farmed, my dad farmed near Bude from 60's to 80's then died aged 42... I then had to go to college but ag industry then was on it's knee's... not much better now i reckon.... I'd happily drive for someone or manage a crew.... it's very similar to Arboriculture in that it's at one with nature AND it's a high tech industry with massive investment needed. Lovely Tractor Farmer Quote
FILFAN Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Most excitement I had on agricultural machinery was flattening the grass in an old vintage road roller. There was another story with an ex mrs in the cab of a jcb but let's not go there Quote
Doug Dastardly Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Who would've thought today's most replied to topic would be a thread about tractors! Quote
M444TTB Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Seeing big machines like that almost (nearly almost!) makes me wish my family farm wasn't now mostly under this: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llandegfedd_Reservoir Quote
