Mid life crisis Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Simples At the time of booking, give the customer the maximum passenger plus luggage weight allowance, including carry on bags Possibly 80kg Female 105kg Male Then add an extra cost based on "£ per kg units" of additional weight, When you check your bags in now they are weighed, charges are made for excess weight, they are then sent down the baggage system New arrangement, make the scales bigger The passenger then stands on the scales with their baggage, and are charged for any extra weight over their ticket limit, to the credit card they used when making their booking. In reality if the extra charge is proportional, the percentage increase would be fairly small for the average passenger, as a high proportion of the actual air fare is taxes Passengers then go on through security and passport control as normal Brings a whole new meaning to loosing weight for summer :d Edited to add :- Michael O' Leary chief exec of Ryan Air has recently signed a deal with Boeing for 175 new aircraft worth 15.6 billion dollars (they could of bought Cyprus for that) to bring there fleet up to 400 aircraft Someone is going to have to pay for it Quote

cast iron Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I'm tall, not by choice, and have to pay extra for legroom, so why shouldn't people who have the choice to eat cake not have to pay for being the equivalent to excess bagage Quote
