IIRC that car was originally built and used for drag racing in the UK... someone on here will remember more about it ;)

Knew I'd seen it a while back... there was a thread over on Blatchat back in 2007 when it was up for sale (in the UK) for £35k

Even found a video of it running a 10.01 quarter mile

And later it ran under 10s - "Neil Booth in his TD turbocharged Westfield was delighted with his win in the RWD category, setting a time of 9.86secs at 154 MPH"

It may well have been at Brize Norton in 2004. There was a Westfield there on that day which was in the 10 secs for the 1/4 mile.

Really upset a certain person from the dark side who claimed he had the fastest 7 in the world.

Norman, Dave Edmands posted the thread when it beat his se7en into the 'nines' back in 2007... it was runnning in TOTB (Ten of the Best) but was beaten by a 1250bhp Skyline GTR :o

It was Dave Kimberley who i knew at DT as he hillclimbed a singleseater after the caterham...

Dave Edmands was the guy with the non roadgoing caterham polished alloy body as paint weighed too much... that he fitted a Hart motor into, was always talking about drag racing it but some decried it as he didnt go round corners.... his user ID was edmandsd :-)

Ain't that the truth!

A work colleague just got a skoda fabia VRS...

"Ere, Cherry, my car could leave yours for dust!"

Hmmm...

He then stated to suggest places to race, but then decided that he didn't want to do a standing start because he does not like wheelspin and he wanted to race on the M5 from 50-70??? He doesn't want to get caught speeding!

Anyway, this Westfield looks pretty awesome, the manifold looks like some of the hair styles floating about the girls at work! But must clearly be for a good reason and not just show. Sub 10secs is going some, had 1/4 mile charity race at RAF Bruggen, while I was at Javelin Bks, and people ran all kinds stuff from 206 "quick silvers", rover 25's, MG's (re badged rover 25's) and a tone of bikes, I had my 916 about a week and didn't want to risk it, so left it. A good mate won the event on his GSXR1000 with 9 sommin, 9.92 maybe? But he raced for years.

What about these cosworth 500bhp+ westfield's on here? Are they not as quick at 1/4 miles? Must be traction and gearing to do 1/4 miles.

I bet that skoda vrs does 1/4 mile in under ten

Super charged and turbo charged! "Racing gearbox!" Not happy when I said "No mate, it's an automatic with the option to shift up or down."

1.4 with 160 or 170 BHP. However must be twice the weight of my Westfield. Plus he's 23 and car before was an old Suzuki jimny!
