bhouse
You must have the patience of a saint to find all these gems. That was a great watch, and David Purley was, by all accounts, one of the good'uns.

M444TTB
Dave Purley F5000 Chevron with John ( get down shep )Noakes Who is the presenter? A very faint bell says he was on something like Blue Peter!
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO
I think F1 would be more interesting if they had to use a lump hammer on the wheel nuts I used to watch those guys when they were my nearest circuit, Mallory Park, probably 1973, 74, 75. F5000 was always impressive as on some circuits they were faster than the F1 cars of the day!
peterg
Who is the presenter? A very faint bell says he was on something like Blue Peter! John Noakes was a presenter on Blue Peter with Valerie Singleton and Peter Purviss while I was growing up in the 60 and 70s
M444TTB
That explains it. He retired from Blue Peter 4 years before I was born!

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
That explains it. He retired from Blue Peter 4 years before I was born! Awww, don't say things like that, feel ancient now. I remember those Blue Peter Days in the seventies with Leslie Judd, Peter Purves and John Noakes acting as the (completely uninsured!) stuntman. Still remember the Bob Sleigh run episode as if it was yesterday.
Norman Verona
I think my kids watch all those folk on Blue Peter. All I had was "Listen with Mother" on the radio.
pistonbroke
You won't see many presenters doing this sort of stuff today , even if they had the bottle they wouldnt be allowed to show it on TV because of all the H&S stuff Just how cool was the guy ? see here at about 5:45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n87SMg_xn1k&feature=endscreen&NR=
Norman Verona
can you see the irony of coming down Nelsons column in a Bosuns Chair? Just struck as funny.
bhouse
can you see the irony of coming down Nelsons column in a Bosuns Chair? Just struck as funny. Sounds like the sort of thing Charles Hawtrey would have done in "Carry on Sailor"
