S2T Posted March 21, 2013 Share Posted March 21, 2013 Our main challenge is not so much what he watches but the time he spends on it, mostly playing internet games. Have set up time controls, which work reasonably well...except he then asks his mother to borrow her laptop/iPad etc which defeats the object! He built his own PC last night in a few hours so am now thinking how to maintain control. I could just disconnect the wireless router but I tend to need it late at night ie the time when I do my catching up with online newspapers. Rhett Turner - Black Country AO Posted March 21, 2013 Share Posted March 21, 2013 When the children were younger I used a web filtering product used to cost £20 pre year for a few computers. Surfpatrol or CbrePatrol of something like that. it was the home version of the corporate app that was in use. You could set the level of access to different categories of sites (violent, sex, etc) set time limits per day/week/etc on internet activity, set boundaries so that access would not be allowed too late or too early. It worked well and as they got older I eased the restriction back until the point I no longer thought it needed restriction at all.
