windy Posted March 5, 2002 Posted March 5, 2002 Rumours abound that Speed Series Folk are bolting more go faster goodies to their cars. So what have you all been up to then? I've done nothing to mine except getting some scruffy bits powder coated with nice fresh slippery paint - should do wonders to the drag factor then! Regards Windy Quote
I.S.M Posted March 5, 2002 Posted March 5, 2002 In my experience everything is kept hush hush till the first event! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted March 5, 2002 Posted March 5, 2002 Mines still got number 25 all over it from Loton Park last September Just hoping I'm number 25 in March - that'll save me some money And my excuse is - money was spent elsewhere Quote
LindsayP Posted March 6, 2002 Posted March 6, 2002 Done just enough to hopefully keep up with you Windy!! Quote

Allen Parkinson Posted March 6, 2002 Posted March 6, 2002 No ones giving anything away so here goes. I've fitted a lower back axle ratio. Old one 3.64, new one 3.14. What for? make it go faster stupid! Anyone any comments or any better ideas. Quote
Allen Parkinson Posted March 6, 2002 Posted March 6, 2002 It could do Jamie but I get too much wheeelspin going off in second gear and have to ease off so I hope to still get a bit of slip and achieve a higher speed before needing to change. Should then give me 95 in third. Quote
ACW Posted March 6, 2002 Posted March 6, 2002 Allen, Last year I geared my car for 61 mph in first gear and found finaly I can get off the line really quick. Definately a good move and I found the engine still reved as quickly to the limited in 1st and it let me bring all the gears closer together. I'm not that secretive so here's my modification list, most are still on the 2 do list: 1. Get the engine rolling roaded (thought it might be worth actually having the engine tuned with something better than my guess) 2. Add a 6 speed dog box. 3. Wide track front 4. New front ARB after the last one sheered into two pieces. 5. New Rear ARB. 6. Lightweight Race seats. 7. new front wing 8. stepped diffuser 9. sheet engine bay floor 10. spend more than 10 mins setting up the suspension. I might even do my corner weights if the sun shines and I can be bothered. 11. Change oil / water. 12 Wash Car (provisional). All the best ...... Quote
Paul@Plays-Kool Posted March 6, 2002 Posted March 6, 2002 Well Windy, you're so quick I've had to borrow a car in an effort to beat you! (& there's still not much hope)It's a nice shiny yellow V8, not a bit like the one Tom campaigned last year!!! My car hasn't been touched & may be out at Olivers, but I could tell a few stories about other cars.......wide track seems popular in 8 & 16 valve format, Image have been doing a roaring trade too, EVERYONE has more power... who knows....... Loton & Croft will soon be upon us so when the flag drops..... Paul Quote
ACW Posted March 6, 2002 Posted March 6, 2002 Paul, My dyno session might give me more power but will it be ofset by my weight.... Quote
