Tony Bodger Bennett Posted February 2, 2002 Posted February 2, 2002 I want to compete in the speed series, but reading the regs, my car does not comply exactly, as it is road registered, with aeroscreen, can I get in to any class i.e. modified etc. What is involved in getting an RAC logbook, if I have to. Cheers. TBB Quote
ACW Posted February 2, 2002 Posted February 2, 2002 What is the spec of the car..? I'd bodge a screen on just for speed series events. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted February 2, 2002 Posted February 2, 2002 HiTony Aeroscreens are not allowed in the speed series full stop its a windscreen or nothing unless of course yr running in the Tom Green class ie fighter jets, rockets and space shuttles you might get away with an SR71 if u tweek the after burners!! Buzz Billsberry Posted February 3, 2002 Posted February 3, 2002 Thank goodness 4 that...... I've got a CEC!! Buzz Quote
gee_fin Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I've never looked at the regs between Tom Green/Ian Stinton's class and Derek Hodder/Stephen Davies' class. What's the split there? As both run aeroscreens and car engines. Is it purely cc? Quote
Tony Bodger Bennett Posted February 4, 2002 Author Posted February 4, 2002 the Car is SVA road legal, 2.0ltr Zetec on std injection system, Is running in the Modified (Tom's) Class an option as I want to get some experience this year and not worry about class awards. Thanks for your help Quote
ACW Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 my advise would be to go in the road going class via the fit a windscreen route. You will be far more competitive in this less serious, though mega competitve group. There are many similar spec cars competing. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 So There's...... no confusion.. Go into 'Speed Series' on home page: click on Down load regs... go 2 section 3.2 paragraph 3 it will explain basically all road going classes " A windscreen must be fitted but may be replaced by one of laminated glass" Classes H and J Are competition cars and don't use windscreens well Toms Doesn't anyway and nether does the other dark blue monster V8 Hope this helps Buzz Quote
johnfelstead Posted February 25, 2002 Posted February 25, 2002 I think i am going to give the ClassB (over 1800cc Novice) championship a shot with my ZEi220. I run on ACB10 right now but it looks like i cant use these in this class. Any info on the best tyre to use that meets the type 1A tyre list? Quote

I hear that CEAT Targas in a 135/70/13 are the tyre of choice for next year Ian Quote
Peter Cox Posted February 25, 2002 Posted February 25, 2002 Thank goodness 4 that...... I've got a CEC!! Does that mean every time we take our car engined Westy's out on dirty British roads, that we're in danger of soiling our CEC's? On reflection, somebody must have thought of that appalling pun before? Quote
johnfelstead Posted February 26, 2002 Posted February 26, 2002 thanks Ian for that advise. Maybe i will use those next year, this year i think i will pass. Quote
