Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Did my usual thing of bringing down all four windows as I reversed out of the drive this morning (model F11 530d) now the front two windows will go up all the way, but they then drop down an inch or two I have checked for obstructions, turn the car off and locked it and then reopened, but they still wont stay up any ideas anyone? just off to do some googling, thought someone in here might know Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Will the windows shut if you press and hold the lock button on the key fob? Quote

pickmaster Andy Lowe Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I'd get the fault codes read It could save hours messing around Theses modern cars are a pain now The previous holding button is a good idea to try Good luck Quote
Doug Dastardly Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Funny this...but my BM windows lowered themselves half way down yesterday while it was locked and I had to fiddle about opening and shutting doors, locking and unlocking for 10 minutes before they went up again Quote
bhouse Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Might be worth cleaning out the slots the windows close into. It sounds as if the anti-trap mode may be being triggered... But knowing BMW I'm sure it won't be that simple. Brian Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I don't know if there's a similarity across systems, but my Audi occasionally does something similar. the Audi remedy is: Turn key to 'ignition'. Press and hold switch to bring window all the way down. Press and hold switch until window is fully up. Release then immediately press and hold switch again in the 'UP' direction for 2 secs. Repeat on any/all other windows, if necessary. Window(s) should work as normal. Hope this works. Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 will give that a try - thanks chap well I phoned my beemer dealer at 9ish this morning and requested a call back from service - no response yet - mmm I thought BMW might be a bit better than this Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 A quick google found this; http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62834 Simple. Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 printed off Norman - will go try that in a bit Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 well seem to have got the drivers side working had to ring the dealership in the end after not returning my call - no courtesy cars available for two weeks, nobody available to have a quick look until next Wednesday (while you wait appointment) must admit I am really not impressed with their after care if this is standard practice then I wont buy another beemer Quote
Stuart Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I've had electrical faults with 4 of the 5 BMWs I have 'owned' (company cars). Mainly dash related - latest 328i was recalled after 6 months for some reprogamming and the 3 blink touch system on the indicators has since failed at 9 months old. Always had spurious warning lights coming on and then going off never to be seen again as well. Don't know if it's their weak point or whether I've just been unlucky. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Had four F10/11 five series over the last few years and all were absolutely trouble free. No experience of the dealers though, so couldn't say. But previous dealer experience of Audi etc is the customer service quality is purely down to the particular dealer franchise you use. I had my Audi's through Links in Macclesfield, and Links were superb. (So much so that I kept with Audi's when I changed cars, just so that I could use Links) The only thing I have noticed with the F11's is that the electrical hand brake set up does vary car to car. My first five series with it worked superbly, the next was very grabby. The one after that needed you to be absolutely stationary and an extremely firm press of the brake pedal before it would auto engage. Quote
