wheeler dealers range rover

anyone watch wheeler dealers this week with that oops, i said a naughty word! ugly rangerover?

what was it they did to the interior parts? some sort of plastic dip coating thingy. is this hard wearing or not as it looked a really neat way to cover bits. certainly a good way to revamp interior bits you might want to do.

was thinking nosecone maybe?

Plastidip, yes thats the new thing. Spray the whole car including windows, lights and trim and trim round with a scalpel. A quick way of changing car colour and it will easily peel off to reveal the original paint. Clever idea but not long lasting. Some videos on You Tube if you want to see it.

no its wasnt that pastidip (also seen it refered to as plasticoat) although im quite impressed with that too. seems like alot of people cover their wheels with it for winter to protect against crud.

this was a thin film of plastic that was suspended in a water bath on the surface of the water, some sort of activator was sprayed on and the bit being covered was dipped into the water through the covering. a bit like a transfere. it was then sealed and buffed up. the bits they did on wheeler dealers looked really good.

So thats another new idea, a temporary solution again.

thats the job. seemed a nice technique. any idea how durable it is as it seems like people have had anything from inlet manifold to full dash boards done

I think another name for it is Hydrographics. Range Rover looked good when done.

It does look good :t-up: , I think they said all the RR dash bits came to 200 pounds, not sure how a westy nosecone would cope with stone chips though

OE manufacturers use this process on all fake wood and carbon trim parts these days. You'll find this process is in nearly every new car's trim. High volumes and low cost.

Was it my imagination, or was the dash giving some random readings too; I'm sure in a couple of shots it showed -40 degrees!
