the world's best van?

After watching Top Gear on sunday, and seeing that traffic jam they had to contend with, I could'nt believe how many Toyota vans were in it. They would have to be strong and reliable to deal with these conditions.. got me thinking.. did'nt see any Transits.

So, your votes for the worlds best van please.

I'll start with the humble Toyota Hiace.

(Had one for 4 years now and apart from the market trader image its a no nonsense worker)

Acceptable as a van. Add windows and you suddenly become a tasteless nunney! I must have been wronged by someone with one / in one once as they are one of my most hated vehicles on the road.

slightly off topic, but in line with the O.P., South Africa is full of Toyotas, as well as Kenya (Niarobi), mainly doing service as taxis for the locals................usually with about 12 passengers stuffed in them. I think Toyota set up dealerships many years ago all over sub-Saharan Africa and more or less cornered the market.

As to the question, I've no idea as I've never owned a van!

And before Toyota it was Peugeot and Datsun (now Nissan).

When the Ugandan Indians came over when Idi Armin threw them out they all wanted Pugs or Datsuns.

I hired a 17 seater Transit minibus for the Yorkshire visit to the factory.  Twin rear wheels were good,, 62mph speed limit less so.  Was a good van none-the-less.

Sprinters get my vote. Full size transit's are pretty good, but the connects are hateful.

Worst van I've used are LDV maxi etc. I was almost happy when they went bust. Gutless even when empty. The people who made them must have had skill to produce steel that thin. I had a serious argument with the MT manager who accused me of failing to report crashing a brand new one. I pointed out that I hadn't crashed it, I'd dented it trying to close the useless door. Utterly useless.

First bit makes sense i suppose, didnt realise it was the number of dealers in the area.....

As to the last bit.. Get some nuts and get a van!  ;)
