do the regs in the speed series allow me to do the following

in the over 1700 road going class?

change present location of springs & dampers front & rear inboard, with pushrods.change pickups to accomodate.

replace rose joints & bushes to flextures.

lengthen wheelbase by modifying wishbones.

use an active diff, coupled to a sequential gearbox

engine to be a JUDD V8.

which of these are allowed, if not,why not.

If you can

a) Afford this

b) Drive this

c) Are allowed to play with this

Can I double drive it!!!.... JUDD.......there's a name........need more power....I don't think!

Looks like a new entrant into the over 2000cc modified class to me  :)  That would be J (I think), must have a word with our eligibility steward.

Now that should give Tom, Stint and Nobby a fright.

Judd V8 - One that Eddie had left-over ?, can't wait to see it.

P.S almost forgot - With those kind of mods it would definately NOT be in ANY road-going class in the WSCC Speed Series or in 90% of other championships.

Serious question ?  First one is definitely illegal.  You may alter the location of the pickup points, but the 'method of operation must remain the same'.  Inboard suspension is not the same method as coilovers attached to the wishbone.  The rest would probably be OK although a Judd engine would raise some eyebrows.  With list 1A tyres it would probably be undriveable anyway.

Mr Fixit

I don't disagree with any of your intended mods - but they would take you well away from road-going in most championships.

"change present location of springs & dampers front & rear inboard, with pushrods, change pickups to accomodate"

Road-going must essentially be as factory designed one or two mods to the norm are available such as wide track etc

replace rose joints & bushes to flextures. as above

lengthen wheelbase by modifying wishbones. as above

use an active diff, coupled to a sequential gearbox

engine to be a JUDD V8. - sequential gearboxes = Certainly not in road-going and I'd have to consult our Comp Sec and regs on modified eligibility. Motorbike powered cars are the only ones to feature sequential boxes - as a factory fitted item.

Yep you can make several design changes to any Westfield but this would not allow you to compete in the road-going classes and would be classed as a modified car. To drive any car with such an engine would be brave on list 1a tyres.

Can't wait to see your car on the track. Good Luck

moving the damper inboard, with a pushrod connected  to the original mounting on the bottom wishbone means the damper still works the same way ie compresses in bump.

is there no restriction on moving pickup points?

Mr Fixit

As an experienced driver in the speed series - you will know how the regs work.

Judd V8 - dump it go for the V10  :p

Just make sure you have all your Speed Series stickers on display.

I'm sure the Design Dept in Kingswinford would like to see some of your development work.

mark,

whilst  i agree with your  comments regarding the JUDD V10

the packaging is too big . also the V8 will bolt directly to

a type 9 gearbox with minimal machining.

I repeat, what mods can i do to my car.
