  1. OK – here goes…another build diary…! Deposit paid last week on an FW kit with the following spec: 2.0 Zetec + throttle bodies Orange body Wide track wishbones Westfield front & rear calipers FW rear diffuser Heater kit Luggage rack with extra boot lid plus locks LED light pack (less headlamps) Carbon effect stone guards Sport turbo seats with orange piping and diamond stitching Four-point harness Momo steering wheel Exhaust guard – powder coated I’ve gone for mid-January delivery as I finish work end-November and I have a rather long list of jobs to do after that, including clearing & sorting the garage (shelving, getting some white paint on the walls and laying some PVC tiles). I’ve been stalking the forum for a while and following a few build diaries, which have all been a great help, so hopefully I can return the favour in the months to come, although I'm sure I'll have a few questions of my own along the way. I must also thank the Thames Valley group for letting me quiz them all during a rare Sunday pub run and ianht71 for showing me round his similar spec FW and taking me for a blast on the roads near his place. The Westfield will join a TR6 in the garage, so it will be interesting to compare the two, and I’ll be spoilt for choice in the summer, although I do now have to buy some metric spanners! I have previous Westfield history, having owned a X-flow engined yellow 7SE back in 89 - 97. I was amazed to find the sale ad I placed in the December 1996 / January 1997 edition of Westfield World (volume 6, issue 56) in the archives on the website – what a great resource! My nearest IVA centre is Yeading, just north of Heathrow, so I’ll be looking for feedback on how to prepare for that at some point next year (fingers crossed…) Wish me luck! Steve
  2. Here goes with another build diary....... Some background .... thanks to @SteveB21. I saw his chassis on trestles in late Jan, with the fuel and brake lines in, and thought out loud "Hey I'd like to do that". Much to my surprise this was met with no resistance by anyone including my wife! Whoops ... I better read a bit more before committing to anything :-)! After reading @SteveB21's diary and also @Benrobson2999 @MikeJG @BobMet 's and a few others I paid a deposit in the 2nd week in April and was given the 3rd week in June as a pick up date! I got the chance to visit the factory when picking up @SteveB21's body work to see the collection starting for my car! Got the garage tidy enough on one side.... And picked up on the 3rd week in June only to go on holiday for 2 weeks!! Managed to get this far without buying anything much except the trestles and a completely useless 200kg dolly with wheels which broke as soon as the engine touched the side of it on the tail lift! We had to drag the engine on some carpet from the van to the garage! So I have just returned from holiday and will continue another day...... IMG_6960.pdf IMG_6960.pdf

    Zetec pulley / belt noise?

    Hopefully some one can help me identify this noise as I'm not familiar with the Zetec engine. Ran the engine up for the third time today and got this noise from the belt/pulley area. It is not clear where this noise is coming from - it is there from cold (this video is with the engine warm) and doesn't go away when the engine is revved. Any obvious things to check? I may try tightening the belt tension slightly, but the tension does seem about right (I can just about turn it through 90 degrees). Thanks in advance!

    Engine fitting

    I am having a trial fit of the engine to ascertain where to drill the gear box mounts, but struggling! What is the best way of getting the engine in? I have a suitable 1000kg lift, and have raised the front of the car slightly, but it is proving difficult to get the back end in far enough before the front end catches on the chassis. Also, I think I know the answer here, but should the skuttle panel have been left off prior to putting the engine in? Any advice welcome. It is a 2.0 zetec into a new special edition by the way.

    Supercharging 2.0 Blacktop

    I now have the engine bits to supercharge my new engine but will be doing it in 2 stages Stage 1 1. Strip new engine and install steel con rods with ARP 2. Install new forge JE pocket pistons (aiming for cr about 11:1) might need to skim head but will have to work that one out. 3. Port & polish head (bolt back on using ARP studs) 4. Install new up rated Ginneta cams, specially designed to be the most extreme you can get without changing the cylinder head internals 5. Fit low sump from 1.8 engine 6. Fit throttle bodies from 1.8 engine 7. Fit flywheel/clutch from 1.8 engine 8. Install 3.62 LSD 9. And anything else that I have missed of the list above to get the car back on the road. 10. Get the engine mapped so I can run the engine in That’s stage 1 complete and i'm back on the road with hopefully 190bhp ish. Trying to complete this in time for the good weather May/June? When funds allow buy the remaining bits 11. Supercharger mounting bracket (I already have Rotrex C30-94 supercharger) just need the mounting bracket and the oil cooler Oh and the intercooler 12. New exhaust 13. New ECU (hoping for Omex 600) Anybody got one cheap? loom wouldn't go a miss as well 14. Small alternator 15. Fit all of the above, maybe August by the time when i have all the bits together. 16. Get her going and run the supercharger in 16. Rolling road here I come. BHP? anything between 250 & 300, I think the lower end will do fine Stage 2 competed Maybe new gearbox when I’ve broken the MT75 lol Now if you can help me (with pictures) of the intercooler mounting and the oil cooler in the front nose cone that would be more than helpful. I know it’s going to be tight fitting these in the nose cone but there must be a best way to install these bits. Regards Terry
