  3. The Story Back in around 2008/2009 I owned a Radical and did a few track days before racing it a couple of times in 750 Motor Club Bikesports championship. I enjoyed that but was put off by the potential to eat money with engine rebuilds and any off track excursions, Radicals are not known for low cost racing. At the time the RGB formula was mainly road going kit cars with bike engines and I decided to buy and build a Westy to have a go in class C of that championship which was for 893/919 CBR engined cars. I bought the car below and set about building it up slowly around family life. During the time I was building it class C got dropped and it became a front versus rear engined 1000cc class with a reasonable number of front engined cars on track. I removed the 919 engine I had in the car at the time and got AB Performance to supply and fit a 2008 CBR 1000 motor, the engine of choice at the time. Over the next couple of years it became clear to anyone serious that rear engined was the way to go and now the class is purely rear engined race biased cars with barely a nod to the former kit car road going aspect. During this time kids got more demanding on time and my garage tinkering time now seems to be spent preparing and running my lads kart. The car has sat in the garage untouched for the past 5 years and I need to either commit to it , finish it off and have some track day fun possibly with a bit of sprinting or move it on and let someone else have a bit of fun with it. The Car The car is close to being finished and ready to drive, the chassis side needs wiring and a complete nut and bolt check where some things have been left loose waiting for a final set up. I have built the engine loom based on advice from Andy Bates at the time but of course this has not been tested. The main cost item left to complete is that an exhaust will need to be built and fitted, I know AB Performance have done this on many similar Westfields. Aesthetically the bonnet could do with a blow over to colour match the bump/wart I have fibreglassed on to cover the top of the taller motor. As explained, I was building it to put it on track so didn't major on creature comforts or bling. I built the car with lots of input from AB Performance, they aren't too far from me and it went there on a few occasions to have parts fabricated, notably the fitment of the CBR1000 motor. Andy was always on hand to give advice on what parts to use and I followed what he said, I've not scrimped on parts. 6. After wanting to build and run a Westfield for over 20 years this past year I finally got chance to realise my dream but it is with a heavy heart I have to consider selling my freshly build Westfield. I have been offered a very nice 997 at a price I just can't resist and having known the car for sometime I cannot let this pass by if this sells. For anyone who is interested here is a link to the build thread : Build Thread All purchased new from Westfield June 2018 and the car has now covered 1000 miles with very very little in the way of teething problems. The car has completed one trackday at Blyton Spec : Registered 1/3/19 Electric Blue bodywork 2.0 Blacktop Zetec on Omex throttle bodies and fitted with a raceline sump. New style FW bodywork with no rear plate recess Sport turbo seats black with blue piping Mazda LSD Pro race 1.2 wheels 7" fronts, 8 " rears fitted with Nankang NS-2R's Westfield Hi-spec brake upgrade new front pads just replaced as the EBC's were not to my liking All LED lights front and rear AIM MXS Strada 1.2 Dash with AIM VIM kit Carbon - Dash, front wings, mirror covers, rear arch stone chip covers, diffuser and cage hole covers Genuine Aerocatch bonnet catches OMP Trecento wheel with quick release column TRS 4 point harnesses 8 channel Freewheel setup with wheel backplate (although I am only using 4 of the channels MSA safety devices cage Only ever seen Vpower fuel through its very short life ! Protech Trackday adjustable dampers Perpsex side wind deflectors Full silicone hoses. Full Geo and corner weight setup at Playskool motorsport less than a month ago. The only addition I was going to consider is some stiffer rear springs as if your lardy like me when two up the car feels way to soft at the rear. Oil changed for Quality 5/30 fully Synthetic ester oil around 600 miles. I have another 5 litres of 5/40 and a few oil filters that will come with the sale All bodywork and wheels were machine polished and had a Gyeon ceramic coating applied at the end of the build making it very hydrophobic. This kit was built with the intention of me keeping it many years (or until I could afford a 997 911!) so everything has been done to the greatest of my ability and with no corners cut on the spec I wanted, It really saddens me to even post this up but the wife has signed off on a 911 and knowing her mood swings I need to grab this by the balls. Any inspection welcome - viewing can be arranged most days or evenings - You can contact via phone or via PM on here.
  7. After much sole searching over the last few months I have reluctantly decided to put up for sale my Westfield. Simply the only motivation behind the sale is that I don't use it anywhere near enough and with my daughter being 17 months old I want to spend all my spare time with her and my wife which means the car will end up going to waste and I can't have cash tied up in something I don't use enough. I've had this car since November 2017, it's truly a well built car with an engine and gearbox that are superbly matched to give a superb drive and exhilarating performance on road but especially on track days. Since completing its rebuild in June last year I used it once on a run out with a fellow member for 75 miles and drove it to the club track day at Blyton mid July where I did three short sessions on track. This car is a very fast track tool and is fairly well known by members of the Westfield Club. In the right hands it would be blisteringly quick! When I bought the car I wanted to use it on track and I wanted the confidence that it wasn't going to break down on me. I therefore set about rebuilding as much of it as I could afford. The front end was completely stripped and the chassis prepared and repainted. The top elements of the rear end received the same treatment although I have not yet gotten round to doing the lower elements of the rear side. During this time I renewed the wiring for the instruments, replaced the instruments, the engine was rebuilt by its original builder Ash Mason (ARM on this forum) who needs no introduction. Whilst rebuilding the engine we converted to dry sump, upgraded the pulley system, had the injectors cleaned and inspected, new ITB's, new ECU, new alternator, new oil cooler and thermostat, new gauge sensors, new coolant pipework. No expense was spared. The braking system had a new upgraded master cylinder, new HiSpec bigger brake conversion kit on the front and some of the pipes were replaced. The hubs were replaced with refurbished ones. The front top and bottom ball joints are new as are the bushes at the front. The geometry has been set late in 2018. The tyres were replaced and the carbon side wings and cycle arches are new. Theres a new lightweight battery, new kill switch and the engine ECU wiring harness has been tidied up at the same time by Luke at Playskool. After the engine rebuild the car was remapped to ensure all was okay. It had previously had a tweak to make it a better road mannered car and was running 224bhp. The remap saw it making 242bhp and 180lbft although Ric Wood stated that it would benefit from a new ECU as the old one was limiting ability to properly control things. The ECU was sent to DTA for testing who confirmed it wasn't working as expected and a new unit would be beneficial although not essential. I opted for a new S40 unit from DTA and at the same time I decided to go for brand new Jenvey ITBs as I was having trouble with the spindles on the existing ones. Following the new ITBs and ECU I had to have the car remapped. This was undertaken by Ric Wood again on the Friday before Xmas just gone. The car now delivers 265bhp and 193lbft. I have all the original dyno charts from its first build (242bhp) its tweaked map (224bhp) the remap after the rebuild (242bhp) and the final map with the new ECU and ITBs (265bhp). The main reason for the big hike in power is likely that the mapping after the rebuild was done this summer in 34 degree heat whereas the last was done in the winter when it was about 6 degrees. I have a large folder of receipts and paperwork for the car as well as all but one of it's MOT certs. It’s mot runs out June 2019. The receipts and info go back to the original build of the car and include all receipts for several thousand pounds I have spent one rebuilding things over the last year. I am the fourth owner. The car was SVA'd in 2002. Mileage since being built is c. 42K miles although since the rebuild it’s done less than 300 miles. The gearbox was out in 2016 checked over by a specialist and at the same time a Playskool roll cage was added. Below is listed the parts that make this car what it is.... ENGINE 2002 Westfield SEiW 2ltr red top. Fully stripped and refreshed Feb-May 2018 by Ash Mason (ARM on this forum and Vauxhall XE guru). 265bhp @ 7,676rpm Vauxhall XE engine. I have set rev limit to 7,200rpm as it’s plenty fast enough and will give ultimate reliability at those revs - to change this is simple with a laptop and I can supply one with the car if necessary. The engine is built to take 8,200rpm so a cam swap and remap could release more but would be less reliable obviously if revving higher. 193 lb/ft torque @ 6,262rpm Standard Crank Uprated ACL bearings Steel conrods with ARP L19 bolts Omega High Intruder pistons Standard Valves Titanuim valve caps Piper double valve springs Heavy duty spring seats QED 450 Camshafts Vernier Pulleys (new 2018) Arrow solid lifters Dry sump system (new 2018) DTA S40 ECU (new 2018) DTA wiring and connectors to connect ECU to laptop (new 2018) Jenvey TB’s (new 2018) Ramair filter (new 2018) Bosch 803 injectors (fully cleaned, checked and tested by Blink Motorsport 2018 with print out of results) SBD heavy duty idler kit and cam belt (new 2018) SBD fixed cam belt tensioner (new 2018) ARP heavy duty flywheel bolts (new 2018) All bolts and gaskets renewed 2018 All bearings etc new 2018 Engine stripped and rebuilt replacing anything necessary 2018 External crank trigger wheel to eliminate weakness with internal ones which can break up at revs (new 2018) New crank sensor 2018 New throttle potentiometer and wiring loom 2018 New Denso lightweight alternator 2018 New coolant hoses 2018 New oil and water sensors 2018 New water pump from SBD 2018 All new external bolts for rocker and all ancillaries 2018 Large Setrag oil cooler and thermostat (new 2018) Nylon solid engine mounts (new 2018) EXHAUST Simpson Race Exhaust Re-packable (redone feb 2018 with acoustafil) Bonnet exit GEARBOX BGH Geartech heavy duty type 9 with long 1st, (rebuilt 2016 receipts available) Helix heavy duty organic clutch plate / cover (replaced 2016) FINAL DRIVE Sierra viscous LSD. 3.92 COOLING Radtec Alloy rad .................. 8. Hi Guys and Girls, Long time lurker, first time poster... I am looking to purchase a car as soon as the right one comes available. Friend of mine is on here & recommend I post to see what might be around. Spec I am looking for is as follows, hoping that there might be some based in the south somewhere? Every car I have liked is in Manchester or Scotland. I live near Reading. Engine: 2.0 Blacktop or similar (circa 200HP ideally) or Hayabusa style Bike engine (I want a decent amount of torque so 1ltr bike engines are a no). Diff: Must have a LSD. Cage: Nice to be fully caged but not the end of the world if not V8 Bonnet is a must unless its the new shape body. Windshield would be nice, but I can work around that if needed. Seats and belts: Not too bothered as long as they are suitable for both. Need at least 4 point harnesses please. Nice to have a Digi dash too, but not imperative. I'm looking for a well sorted car, good condition and suitable for both road and track use (70/30 split in that order). I've got a max budget of £14k. Thanks in advance everyone

  11. After 3 years of fun, I am looking at moving into Tin Top racing so my Westfield is going up for sale. It's a fantastic car, and is the perfect road / occasional track day car in its current spec and could be taken either way to make an out and out track car, or an even better road car. So the car: Westfield SEiW registered on 1998 on an R plate, wide body with V8 ducted nose cone and vented bonnet. 2.0 Vauxhall XE Red Top with oil pump, hydraulic tappets, plugs and a Varley red top 30 battery fitted within the last few years. Fully serviced with oils and fluids over the winter, also garaged over winter. It runs on MBE Engine Management with tapered throttle bodies giving 197bhp on a rolling road. Gearbox is a Type 9 close ratio straight cut competition box with short quick shift. Paddle type clutch Sierra Limited Slip Differential Front brakes are Wilwood 4 pots with solid discs, rears are Sierra disks. Braided brake hoses Gaz adjustable suspension 2.4 Steering Rack 13 inch Compomotive alloys Carbon fibre effect rear arch protectors and rear lights Carbon fibre exhaust Playskool Half Cage Willians Harnesses Momo steering wheel Recently fitted with an upgraded Coolex radiator with new fan Cooling override switch (never had any overheating problems but the switch was already fitted and I upgraded the radiator for more track work) AP Racing Brake Master Cylinder (took me almost a year to get hold of one of these to fit! Rocking horse s*** springs to mind!) Heater Full leather dash and carpets Immobiliser Hamilton car cover (with slight tear) Side doors and soft bits for sevens tonneau cover The car has been fully set up with geo and corner weights by Northampton Motorsports MOT until September 17 As you can see, it is a great spec car. I have spent thousands on this car and it is in fantastic condition, I have stacks of history and receipts too. I have loved owning it and hope the next person does too. I just want to try my hand a bit more seriously on track! I am in no rush to sell so please no silly offers. Car is based in Leamington Spa. Contact 07429155373. Price: £11,500
  12. Set of 4 Silverstone FTZ Slick Track Tyres 19/58/R15 I fitted them to my Westfield and went to a trackday at Anglesey. These are the (more expensive) 'T5' - Medium Compound - but I found them to be way harder that I wanted so I changed over to my other rims in the lunch break. As a result they've only covered 50-70 miles and indeed the (slightly indented) writing stamped round the slick surface is still mostly visible. There are no flat-spots or cuts to the tread / sidewalls and they hold their air just fine. They have about 190mm of tread width and are about 580mm tall.. They've been sitting in my store room (away from sunlight) for about a year so it's about time I re-homed them.!. They are currently in Hampshire. I could deliver them for 25p per trip mile. Alternatively I'm at home most of the time so I could meet your courier (though some of them insist on the tyres being individually fully wrapped in cardboard and labelled - which would need a lot of card and take me half a day!! - so avoid those ones please! - I'd sooner tie them in pairs and add a couple of sticky labels to each..) If you're not in a rush I could deliver when I'm next travelling in your general direction and you'd only need to cover the miles off route..
  13. Considering booking either of these, General Track day at Oulton - great circuit...open pit 105db noise Anyone else able to make this? http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car/calendar/2015/june/09-op-gen.aspx Alternatively Javelin on 18 Aug for £199 .... open pit http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/ Not booked yet, so if anyone knows of availability of alternatives, can you let me know....thanks Andy
  14. Just booked my first trackday of the year.... Blyton Park nr Gainsborough (Blyton link) It's a great track, enjoyable driving with good tarmac & plenty of run off. It's with Javelin (link) and WSCC get a not particularly generous 5% discount with code WSCC12_5 Be great if a few of you were able to join in
  15. I bought this approx 12 months ago when I was thinking of having a dedicated track car however that plan has changed so this is surplus to my requirements. It's effectively brand new and has never been fitted. Currently the best internet price I can find for one is £270, looking for £195. Collection from Bristol or I will post at buyers expense. Blurb from the Armtech website: The Hybrid Battery Isolator consists of a heavy duty control box that is normally mounted close to the vehicle’s battery. Three remote switches (all supplied) control the unit; two cockpit mounted (one ‘ON’ and one ‘OFF’) buttons are operated by the driver, and an external waterproof ‘OFF’ switch can be operated by the marshals in the event of an accident. Any number of additional switches can be added if required. An indicator light on the unit lights when the unit is armed, as does another attached to the driver operated ‘ON’ switch. The switches are wired to the unit using low voltage and current cable (not supplied). In the event of an accident where any of the cables are severed the unit will automatically be turned off. A safety sticker sheet and full instructions are also supplied. Black Box Dimensions 109x69x54mm Overall Dimensions 156x69x62mm Weight (approx) 700g Temperature range -25°C to +85°C Operating Voltage 9 -16V Max Switching Current 1000A Continuous Current 250A Max Alternator Current 250A Power Consumption 12W Alternator protection circuit built into unit. 12 Volt negative earth only.
