  1. Hi all, I've recently purchased a Westfield and would like to fit a USB socket for the sat nav and phone etc. I've seen the type I want on Car builder and from a search on here it looks like others have used this as well. I've had a look under the dash and there are two connectors that don't have anything plugged in. I've attached some pictures of these. Can anyone advise if I can use these or if not what they are for? It's a factory car by the way in case this helps as I assume others have these?! Thank you. Simon.

    Dashboard switches

I'm just at the stage of fitting my dash and have 1 more item to add which is the Ctek battery charger connector which I'm going to mount on the LH side of the dash, near the edge. Just checking before I fit this, is there any chance this could prove a problem with IVA? I can't imagine it would but though I'd ask the team.

    Dash board fixing

Ok team, just finished getting my scuttle to fit onto the chassis as its currently got the rear-panel, and side panels fitted to locate the rather complicated cut-out for the fly-by-wire throttle. Have my dash fitted out with some of the switches etc, following AdgeC lay-out, without the AIM dash in it yet,and have just offered up the dash panel to roughly line up the edges. I also used a straight line to bend the 2 welded on brackets, to help support the dash, is that correct? I have worked out that the crash pad which goes around the outside must then cover the bolt's holding the dash to the scuttle, and following other builds am going to order the M4 clips https://www.amazon.co.uk/Speed-Fastener-Chimney-Tapping-Metric/dp/B01MCYOL7I/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1521243951&sr=1-4&keywords=Metric+Screw+Lug+Spire+Clips Have not seen anybody really detail how many screws are generally used to bolt the two together, so looking for advise on how many to use? I'm then assuming that the crash pad is fixed using hook & loop tape to hold this in place? I like the idea of being able to drop out the dash if needed by just un-screwing after removing the crash pad. Have a bag odd button head M5 screws/washers/nyloc's x10 sets from WF, but that seems like a hell of a lot of LARGE fixings so am planing to switch to M4, and that I think nuts would be a b***h to un-do if I ever needed to remove
  6. OK team, a bit more advice please. I'm sitting in the garage with a nice cup of tea, and Jam Steam Sponge pudding looking at how I'm going to mount the fuse boxes and AIM Dash expansion. I going to follow AdgeC's brill idea and mount them on the cross rail just above the drivers feet, but taking his advice on the front of the rail, further away form the scuttle back-line. The bit of aluminium sheet I have is not quite as tall as AdgeC's so I'm thinking I can mount the expansion unit on other side of the steering shaft, but could mount horizontal or vertical. Anybody got any thoughts on this?

    Contoured Dash - Any Condition

As per the title, does anyone have one of these they've taken out to upgrade to a carbon dash? I'm not worried about the condition as I plan on "doctoring it" a little anyway. Cheers, Andrew

  11. Moulded dash for a Mazda SDV to use the MX5 light cluster. Brand new and unused. Dorset
  12. Can anyone recommend an alternative to the standard Westfield dashboard gauges to fit the flat dash. The Westfield ones are quite pricey so I may consider an alternative. They need to match though, and that seems to be a problem finding speedo and tachometer that match the 52mm gauges.

    Time to treat myself!

Ahoy all! For those that have seen a few of my posts, i've had a bit of a trial by fire during my first few Westfield months. Within week 2, the alternator failed; or atleast thats what I thought. After buying, attempting fitting, trimming, refitting and finding out it was actually just a broken mount I had another issue... The oil filter was pierced by the newly trimmed alternator. So I removed it, removed the oil filter, changed the oil, refitted a new oil filter, retrimmed the alternator, refitted. Then the radiator played silly b*******s. Then the headlights. Then the dipstick. Then forgetting to put the oil cap back on, and having a blat end very promptly from the smell of what I can only describe as an old locomotion tailgating me Then some lass decided to use me as a reversing sensor. Sadly the noise didnt stop her from continuing. So after having to fork it out myself (as she's decided to go all silent on my claim request (outside of insurance...grrr)) I now have 4 new tyres, 2 new top ball mounts at the front...took it for a spin and bang. Exhaust fell off. FML... So on Friday I have a chappy at my friendly MOT station to weld the mount back to the exhaust! So given all that, this week i've decided its TLC time. Enough of the crap. Enough of the 'oh this is starting to hurt the wallet'. I've now thought 'Sod you wallet, time for you to lose some weight'. Cue the brand new 270mm Momo steering wheel, exhaust wrap that was starting to look tired(especially after the spillage!), Julian's custom carbon dash with red trim, and a bit of a wax treatment in store. The questions however: 1. Steering wheel; I havent been able to find a walkthrough guide on how to 'best' drill the holes for a new wheel. Any suggestions? I'm a perfectionist, and i'd hate to have my wheel misaligned by even a micron. 2. Exhaust Wrap; any tips, beyond that of skills from wrapping mates in toilet paper at halloween as mummies (as a kid ofcourse...)? 3. Guages; given the speedo is calibrated..if I disconnect it to 'plug in' the new dash, will it lose its settings? Likewise with the other instruments. Many thanks in advance all!
