    AP Carbon

I Have moved the AP carbon Product page from the for sale section to here as I think its better placed here and will stop clogging up the for sale section with my carbon Firstly all the carbon I list for sale here is made by me and it is 100% Prepreg carbon as i have had people ask if I'm buying it in and "is it Plastic " because the weave looks to perfect. Secondly I would like to thank all Members that have purchased products up to this point. Any questions or you wish to check availability Please drop me a Pm Many thanks Ash

    Edging Forward Slowly

“Alterations to your Westfield” Often born from necessity, a must have upgrade or in my case a personal dislike. Whilst I have been attending the many regional meetings, some lucky members have kindly listened to me sharing a few minor blemishes with my purchased Westfield. Nothing critical, but I notice them regularly enough to make me want to explain them away or attempt to hide. Today I would like to show you how I have resolved one of my dislikes. A common area for gel coat problems on a Westfield is the join between the sides and the rear boot. (FW) I have seen several with signs of cracking. Several members have covered this area in some way. The builder of my vehicle decided to remove a little of the body work to prevent this cracking. Whilst I share the sentiment I am not happy with the look. Mission hide! Initially I simply covered with a square. Today however I installed my solution. A plastic corner angle covered in a Carbon Vinyl Wrap & finished with the same edging placed on the wheel arch protectors. I am now very happy with the finished look. Please do share your similar alteration stories. Especially those that “get us out of Jail” Others to follow. All the best HB
  3. I'm selling a genuine Westfield SEIW aeroscreen that has been profesionally hydrodipped with a carbon fibre effect. These are £422 from Westfield. https://parts.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=539 Good condition with a couple of very light marks that are difficult to photograph. As I don't have any packing material I'm going to offer this as collection only in the first instance. Price: £160
  4. Westfield Carbon Exhaust Silencer 6” non cat, complete with link pipe and fittings These are £458.10 from Westfield. Open to sensible offers.
  5. After wanting to build and run a Westfield for over 20 years this past year I finally got chance to realise my dream but it is with a heavy heart I have to consider selling my freshly build Westfield. I have been offered a very nice 997 at a price I just can't resist and having known the car for sometime I cannot let this pass by if this sells. For anyone who is interested here is a link to the build thread : Build Thread All purchased new from Westfield June 2018 and the car has now covered 1000 miles with very very little in the way of teething problems. The car has completed one trackday at Blyton Spec : Registered 1/3/19 Electric Blue bodywork 2.0 Blacktop Zetec on Omex throttle bodies and fitted with a raceline sump. New style FW bodywork with no rear plate recess Sport turbo seats black with blue piping Mazda LSD Pro race 1.2 wheels 7" fronts, 8 " rears fitted with Nankang NS-2R's Westfield Hi-spec brake upgrade new front pads just replaced as the EBC's were not to my liking All LED lights front and rear AIM MXS Strada 1.2 Dash with AIM VIM kit Carbon - Dash, front wings, mirror covers, rear arch stone chip covers, diffuser and cage hole covers Genuine Aerocatch bonnet catches OMP Trecento wheel with quick release column TRS 4 point harnesses 8 channel Freewheel setup with wheel backplate (although I am only using 4 of the channels MSA safety devices cage Only ever seen Vpower fuel through its very short life ! Protech Trackday adjustable dampers Perpsex side wind deflectors Full silicone hoses. Full Geo and corner weight setup at Playskool motorsport less than a month ago. The only addition I was going to consider is some stiffer rear springs as if your lardy like me when two up the car feels way to soft at the rear. Oil changed for Quality 5/30 fully Synthetic ester oil around 600 miles. I have another 5 litres of 5/40 and a few oil filters that will come with the sale All bodywork and wheels were machine polished and had a Gyeon ceramic coating applied at the end of the build making it very hydrophobic. This kit was built with the intention of me keeping it many years (or until I could afford a 997 911!) so everything has been done to the greatest of my ability and with no corners cut on the spec I wanted, It really saddens me to even post this up but the wife has signed off on a 911 and knowing her mood swings I need to grab this by the balls. Any inspection welcome - viewing can be arranged most days or evenings - You can contact via phone or via PM on here.
  6. Good afternoon I maybe a little bit premature but if I am honest I’m so so excited to get started on what has been a journey of around 14 years. So I visited the factory yesterday and placed an order on a new FW SE Zetec with LSD, Throttle bodies, track day dampers, brake upgrade, MSA rollbar, 8” rears, 205 tyres, sport turbo seats and I’ve also gone for the LED rear light upgrade. I have also omitted the following parts from the kit as I’d like to source alternatives elsewhere - front wings as I’d like to source proper carbon items, dashboard inc clocks and switches as I’d like a proper carbon dash with a AIM MXS dash and freewheel buttons to maintain a clean dashboard, seatbelts as I’d like to choose the colour width and type at a later date. I think I have sourced most of the tools and kit I require for the build now and I am just preparing my workspace to accept the kit in 8 weeks time. Planning a visit to Stoneleigh next weekend to help make some decisions on a few bits of like and also to try and decide on a body colour. I really like electric blue at the moment but my original thought was orange. If anyone is interested I’m located in Wetherby so if anyone is local the kettle is always on and the beer is always cold ! Any advice is greatfully received and I’ve covered a few things in previous posts but feel free to offer up any tips or advice. Mark

    Carbon Fibre Tub / Chassis

Hi everyone, I'm a university student, currently working on a project with regards to the use of carbon fibre in kit cars such as the Westfields. Essentially, we are working with Axon Automotive on a passenger tub, where the passenger and the driver are seated, made entirely of carbon fibre (including the beams, the flooring and the side panels); whereas, the front and back of the chassis remain with the original steel frame chassis. So the method used to join the steel frame to the carbon fibre tub is through nuts and bolts. I'm currently conducting a survey just to determine your perception on the use of carbon fibre in kit cars, especially for the tub. More information about the product itself is available in the survey link below and I'd really appreciate if you could take a couple of minutes to answer the survey. All responses will be stored anonymously and I really hope that I can get a great number of responses from you all. Click here for the Survey. Cheers, Will
  10. Hi All After several months of preparation I’m now in a position to announce that I’ll be making carbon fibre parts commercially, predominantly to suit our cars but some pieces will likely have more generic applications As is often the way, I’ve progressed from being an avid consumer of carbon fibre to developing a keen interest in the manufacturing processes. I’m now hoping to take things a step further after quite some time spent refining my skills working with this product and have set up in a workshop with all the necessary tools and equipment. The majority of the parts I will be making to begin with will be made via resin infusion under vacuum. I’ve just about got my oven fine-tuned, so I'll also be making selected items using pre-preg fabric. Both processes are geared to deliver a near optimum resin to fabric weight ratio plus added strength when compared with wet-lay hand lay-up manufacture. Cosmetic finish is just as important to most people, so my target will always be to make final finish as close to perfect as possible. Importantly, nothing I make will be bulked out by fibreglass chopped strand matting. Parts will, almost exclusively, be made using layers of genuine carbon fibre fabric and top quality epoxy resins. I plan to be transparent regarding the make-up of every piece in order to provide some assurance that all parts will be worthy of being called carbon fibre composites. I also hope to be a little imaginative and, where possible, look to provide fellow owners with an opportunity to add something a little different to their car, whilst also providing a little more choice to complement what’s already out there. I’ve still to finalise my pricing structure, but I really do aim to be competitive without compromising part quality. So, listed below are the parts I’m currently in a position to make. Examples of these can be seen by clicking the link below, where I’ve filed some recent pictures that I hope will provide a little more insight: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5aace60eomcaccv/AABuxd7JKz3gCoGF8DxCic3Qa?dl=0 (let me know if link doesn't work!) ‘Aero+’ cycle wings – These are a re-model of the ‘CSR’ style wings more commonly available and feature a revised and lengthened rear section. The aim is to provide reasonable protection to the rear of the car AND still mount in a way that doesn’t lose any of the marginal aero gain they offer. To suit tires up to 205 wide. Ducted ‘aero+’ cycle wings – As above, but with the addition of a ducted section in front of the aero lip. Designed to allow some of the air under the wing to be released and may appeal to those seeking ‘ten-tenths’ or just those who like something a little different Half doors – Light and strong for fitment to standard Widebody. I believe that these will also fit Narrow cars with a relatively straightforward bit of trimming to the front section. Diffuser – This is designed to fit the independent Widebody chassis and has recessed sections to clear the extremities of the wishbones. Can be supplied with/without strakes and there is scope for the rear section to be trimmed to suit individual aesthetic preferences e.g. where a flush or slanted look was preferred (I think it looks a little more aggressive as is, but that’s just my taste). Boot panels – Foam cored panels that can be made with a choice of surface layer - Twill/Plain weave/Spread Tow etc. Aero screen – ‘Double Bubble’ style and can be made in either twill or subtle plain weave fabric Narrow dash panel – Sturdy panel with rounded lower edge and ‘ears’, made from multiple carbon layers Finisher trim strip (standard) – Behind seat trim and can be made in a choice of fabric Finisher trim (contoured) – For those cars with low rising chassis uprights in the centre, a neater trim strip option Coming soon/Work in progress: Flared side panels – These will be available in twill or plain weave and, possibly, spread tow fabric Mirror covers – Designed to cover the standard MG TF-type mirrors Indicator pods – Caterham style pods that allow fitment of the front indicators below the headlights Widebody dash panel – Same spec as Narrow variant Interior side panels/rear bulkhead panel – Will be available in a choice of fabric styles Pedal box cover – to suit floor mounted pedals Plus a fair bit more TBC… As I want to focus on broadening the range of products over the coming months, output of finished parts will be a little limited in the early stages. So, with this in mind, I plan to make batches of parts to start with and, in the first instance, offer them to fellow members. This will allow me time to get in the swing of things and, hopefully, get a feel for what people like and, perhaps, would like to see that might not yet be available. I’ll be working on a website in the meantime, as well as trying hard to get out in my own car occasionally to enjoy a little of the summer. Oh, before anyone mentions it, I’m also not averse to the idea of a member discount, as least until such time as I’ve got a site up and running. Thanks for reading and I will check back in a few weeks with some pieces for sale and I will also confirm individual prices. In the meantime, please feel free to PM me with any questions/suggestions etc. or post-up any generic questions via this thread As stated above, I won’t be taking orders just yet but I plan to be in a position to do so soon. Regards Mark - carbon-nv performance car composites

  17. Hello, Due to just picking up a brand new pair of B6 Carbon seats I now have a Carbon B6F Seat with Dinamica Suede padding surplus to requirements! Below is the link to the seat https://www.tillett.co.uk/shop/exd-B6F-Carbon-GRP-Race-Car-Seat.asp?id=523 I also have the Tillett spacers and Tillett floor mount brackets that bolt onto the seats side mounting fittings. I bought this seat from a guy who was using it in a Clio show car and so it looks like new, however it had a damaged thread on the offside rear mount and had the rolls still on the sides. I took it to Steve Tillett at the Tillet Factory in Kent and they completely repaired the mount and took the side rolls off the seat for me so that it is the same spec as the narrower version of this seat (necessary for fitting in our little cars) As you can see if you bought this new it would be £976.80 without the floor brackets. This seat owes me just over £410 so I'm only looking to recoup as much of that as possible. It's a stunning seat, I'll try and get some photos on when I get a chance Any questions feel free to ask Cheers Kevin Edit.... Should have mentioned I'm in Brentwood, Essex for collection purposes

    Useful Upradeitis Websites

Hi everyone, as the season of winter upgrades is fast approaching I thought it might be useful to put together a definitive list of all those websites that come in handy when sourcing parts, from the big stuff to those niggly little things that you can't find anywhere. I've started off with the top 20 websites in my 'favourites' list. If more people chip in with their favourites it will build a useful resource for everyone to complete their winter rebuilds. Happy surfing..... http://westfield-world.com/index.html http://www.trackdaytoyz.co.uk/ http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/ http://www.jkcomposites.com/7s-page.html http://www.softbitsforsevens.co.uk/ http://www.larkspeed.com/ http://www.kitcardirect.co.uk/ http://www.kitpartsdirect.com/ http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/ http://www.abperformance.co.uk/ http://www.polevolt.co.uk/index.html http://www.thetoolboxshop.com/ http://www.vicfibretech.co.uk/Pages/KitCarHome.aspx http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/ http://www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/ http://yorkshireengines.co.uk/Home.html

    Real Carbon Fibre Sheet

Has anybody used this Richbrook Real Carbon Fibre 3M sticky backed Sheet in their Westie to line the cockpit? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Product.do?method=view&n=1984&g=246957&p=20786&c=215&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Base&utm_campaign=Carbon%20Panels%20&%20Trim&gclid=CLL0sL7Zq7QCFaTKtAodDWAAgQ If so do you recomend it? I was also wondering how easy and how best to apply it. And how durable it is? I'm upgrading to JK Seats in the new year and if I'm going to undertake any upgrades to the interior look it'll be best when I remove the original seats. Cheers.
