  1. I've organised a small blat to this event held by Apple County Kit Car Club tomorrow morning. So far 3 of us going but as well as posting it here it'll be posted on the KitNet forum. I'm leaving Yate BS37 at 8.00am, hopefully meeting a mate at Miety Stone Ltd around 8.45am if he survives the St Pauls Carnival party today and then we are rendezvousing with Rory from WSCC Bristol and Bath WhatsApp group at New Manor Farm shop at 9.00am then on via Cheddar Gorge where we will stop for pics then on to Sweets with an ETA before the 10.00am starting time. Good brekkies served there and given the weather there should be a few APKCC members there too. If anyone else wants to tag along just let me know. This is the full route atm https://maps.app.goo.gl/RjUbyaksWJMdj8DKA
  2. There is a regular classic car meeting at this venue on the 4th Sunday of each month, the next one is this Sunday the 26th of Feb 2023 This is the hotel where the late Queen famously got stranded in the massive snow drifts in December 1981. I was also not far away, stranded on the M4 at junction 18! Ah great times 😁 Although it's a classic meet all sorts turn up including from time to time myself and a few mates in kit cars. It's free to attend and the hotel lay on bacon rolls, tea, coffee etc for £6.00, but it has to be cash so if you decide to come don't forget your money £££££ It starts around 🕣 8.30am officially but in good weather can be already quite busy by then. The very large car park often fills up completely. Weather forecast is looking half decent for this Sunday so I may pop along I think. 1 or 2 of the guys from the WSCC Bath and Bristol WhatsApp group MAY also be attending I think. If anyone on here turns up please look me up and say hello. if the weather turns out to be dry and not fffffff-freezing cold 🥶 I'll be in the Flying Carrot, my orange Westie on a 14 plate with a full cage. If not I may be in a tin-top or my bed 😂 On the same day there is another event about 11 miles away cross-country via some of the roads that surround Castle Combe race circuit. Some of the attendees may blat off to that one also I reckon. This is the M4 Karting Classic meet at Hangar 88, Hullavington Airfield and runs from 9am til 1pm officially. Both of these events are listed on Facebook if you need more info. A chance to see some beautiful classics while having breakfast and a chat. Last time the bacon rolls were excellent! 🍔🍔🍔☕️☕️☕️ If people are feeling like even more fun then I guess there is always the opportunity to blat off somewhere else afterwards, my favourite trip from there is to AV8 at Kemble/Cotswold Airport but unfortunately atm they are closed on Sundays. Cheers everyone!

Where do I post about blats I am doing??

Hi all. I am newish to this forum and have to say I'm struggling to navigate it a bit (it's me not you!) If I plan a trip out in the Westie it's often short notice so I'm usually alone. Getting together with others for a blat I have found is about as easy as getting that last bit of Marmite out of the jar! If I wanted to post about going out and looking for others who are available or fancy a meet up, where do I post it please? PS while I'm at it, what is 'item prefix' all about just below the 'tags' box while I'm writing this?

    Hello from another newbie!

Hello there! Been meaning to sign up to WSCC for ages and now that I'm finally behind the wheel I've finally got round to it. I've been building my Westfield FW for the last couple of years and got it on the road just before Christmas last year. Passed the IVA first time but it was sat waiting for six months due to the backlog... Tucked it away for the winter and have now racked up 600 miles over the last couple of months, breaking her in gently. It's a fairly standard FW, with the addition of throttle bodies, and I'll be looking to add extras and upgrades subject to funding - would definitely welcome recommendations! I'm thinking side screens and maybe a top might be first..? Not really set up for the track, but I've signed up for the CKC/Prodev track day this weekend at Llandow. Looking forward to touring some of the beautiful roads around the South West (living in Bristol now but I'm an Essex boy originally) - great to see so many trips happening in the forums, I'll hope to join some of them soon! Paul

  6. Hi all, The Haynes Motor Museum has issued a notice to say that they will start the breakfast club meetings from April 4th. They appear to have worked with the local authority etc to test whether this will be viable and have (I guess tentative), agreement to go ahead. The first event is scheduled for April 4th and the tickets are £5.00 per car - limited to a max of 2 occupants - provided that local Covid-19 restrictions at the time permit - otherwise one person per car. The event is outside but with catering on site. Being ever the optimist, I have bought a ticket - but Haynes have said that any tickets bought will be rolled forward to another date if the vent is not able to go ahead. Link to the event page here: https://www.haynesmotormuseum.com/haynesbreakfastclub Link to a video clip of prior event here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWxORMx0cMs A charge up to Haynes for a lard roll and coffee sounds like heaven just now and so thought that I'd post to to see if anyone in the SW areas might fancy it? I've not had my car long enough to not be in some form of restrictions and so would be great to meet a few people. April 4th is quite early and so may be a bit weather dependant but come on: cars - a drive - lard - coffee - what's not to like! What do folks think? Thanks all, W
  7. Hi all, Just testing the waters to see if anyone would be interested in going along to the Lyn Valley Classic in Lynton on June 13th. This is a great little event / show in Lynton which is always well attended with a great mix of cars and other vehicles. I have dropped the organisers a note to see if there is scope to have a little WSCC corner etc - and so will let you know when I hear back. Even if we we can't have our own corner then we can still go along as individuals etc - I think it's a fiver. There's a great fish & chip shop, pastie shop and pub and it's all right on the harbour. Link is here: https://www.lynvalleyclassic.co.uk/ Maybe if you could let me know if you are interested and I will get back to you once I hear from the organisers. Dorset and Bristol folks ( and anyone else!) very welcome too! Conscious that I am lobbing ideas out there at the moment so please feel free to let me know if this is / isn't the type of thing that you might be interested in or other ideas that you'd like me to follow-up? Thanks and have a great weekend! W
  8. Hi all, Well the time table that is being trailed seems to suggest that a drive out will be possible after 12th April. I guess that we will learn more detail in the briefing from BOJO this evening! It would feel pretty good to get a date in the diary, even if provisional - maybe something along the lines of a tour around as I had suggested previously? Be great to get your thoughts and whether you might be interested - any thoughts of dates that would work? Outside hospitality should be back up an running from 12th April and so we should at least be able to get a coffee & and sandwich somewhere. Once I have an idea of dates / numbers I'll have a ring around to see if we can book a couple of stops? Hope to hear from you? Thanks, Sean

Bristol & Bath - New Year, New Style...

Just before we all hang up our driving gloves for the festive season, please put Thursday 14 Jan 2021 in the diary for a virtual garage meet at 2000hrs / 8pm. Conscious of the current mish-mash of Covid-19 Tiers across Bristol & Bath area I will be looking to host on zoom and do a quick chat and check in with new and old members and run through bits and pieces on the cars and what our winter plans are? If you can let me know if you are interested by the POLL AT TOP OF THIS PAGE I will PM out the invites - hopefully most of us have a mobile device so we can walk and talk. Let me know if you want to discuss anything specific? Merry Xmas and may Santa bring you all the upgrades you have been so good for... Regards Chris

    Bristol and Bath AO

Good evening all, I know this is a bit random but I thought I would give it a go… I have been a lurker/watcher for a few years, joined in April and then bought my first Westy on 6th September this year – so far 1200 miles done in rain, wind and sun. Yes, the grin is still etched on my face… In the process of looking to meet up with others I noticed that there wasn't a Bristol and Bath AO and enquired to Julie if there was any pre-requisite to taking on the role...needless to say, She said no and so here I am – Provisional, fledgling, temporary AO. To that end I’d really like to try to get an initial meet arranged: 1. To meet as many local(?) Westy owners to share our hobby and look at each others great cars. 2. Get you knowledgeable owners to cast an eye over my new toy and help me: a. Identify the specification where paperwork is missing b. Identify good/bad parts/build c. Work out a must do/nice to do/don’t bother list 3. Drink coffee and eat bacon butties/cake 4. To get an article in the Winter Westfield World…with pictures? Therefore, I wonder if I could trouble you to get in touch and see if any of the following dates would be ok? 1. Sunday 28th October (PM) 2. Saturday 10th November 3. Sunday 11th November (PM) 4. Saturday 17th November 5. Sunday 18th November Finally, any ideas on locations for a central(ish) first meeting point – if not I could host at our house (Lyde Green, North East Bristol) – ample parking in Community Centre car park over the road? Many thanks in anticipation Chris (CeeBee) @ArcenPower @SXRORY @JohnWM2 @lloydox @Master O @wackydo @jeff oakley @spm @CrisisWolf @Barry Ashcroft @DaveM123 @Wobblyprop @timessex @matt_c @djm @Ad Eves @Terzo204 @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO
