Weather forecast is currently mostly sunny so will be good to see you all then. Snetterton 23rd August 2017

Is anyone thinking of going to Snetterton on the 23rd August 2017 as there is a trackday with Javelin and should be able to get the WSCC discount, see below; http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackdays/index.php?route=product/product&path=75&product_id=436 It is probably a little early at the moment as only one other person attending but thought I would try to raise some interest......I'm booking today!
  5. Thanks to the assistance of our fellow Essex members we are put on a second Essex Weight Watchers. This will be held on the morning of 14th June 2015 before the June monthly meet at Kevin's (Kevip6) unit in Brentwood starting at 9am through to noon. Address is: Baldwin Plastic Laminates on Tallon Road, down a driveway opposite Rhino Showrooms Post Code cm13 1tg As per last year there will be a chance to have an initial weigh in for everyone, then several reweighs if people want to adjust their cars. Paul (Tigger) will be in charge of the scales once again and provide all the numbers and suggestions for making you stead better balanced. In addition to the teas and coffees of last year, I have plans to bring a BBQ and supply some bacon rolls that may help with the fine tuning of the weight distribution. Here's a link to last years event http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/107990-essex-weight-watchers-8th-june-9am/
  6. The Essex Area monthly meet is this coming weekend 10th May from noon onwards at the Lodge.
  7. Its that time in the year to start the Essex blats, so the first Essex Blat is scheduled for 8th March for a run out before the monthly meet. So pop a note on the family calendar, polish your Westy and join in, meeting up at 10am at McDonalds at Boreham on the A12. I will plan a route and meeting place next week. I will plan a route which will finish at the Lodge sometime around noon.
  8. Essex Area monthly meet this Sunday as usual from 12 noon at the Lodge Inn South Woodham Ferrers. Everyone welcome Shock horror, after a 3 month absence there's a good chance I might actually make it to this one and if it's not raining then I may even wake the Westfield from its hibernation to bring along too.
  9. I wonder if anyone would like to meet at the Maldon Motor Show tomorrow instead of the Lodge. Not been to this one before so I can't vouch for it. However, feedback from last year was very good. Alternatively we can meet at the Lodge earlier than usual and take a blat over there. Free entry and a beer tent! What more could you ask for. See links below. http://81.179.240.58/maldon/downloads/Flyer2014.pdf http://www.maldon.gov.uk/events/event/2156/classics_on_the_promenade-the_maldon_motor_show Apologies for the short notice. Tim
  10. This is certainly worth a visit.Last year I was the only Westy in the field. Be great to have some Westy company. http://www.thelawn.co.uk/PDF/Car_Show_lft14-1.jpg http://www.classiccar-retroshow.co.uk/
  11. It's that time again Essex Area Monthly meeting this Sunday at the usual venue the Lodge Inn SWF from 12:00 noon. As you have been posting on here about how much fun you've been having now your cars are all taxed again I'll expect to see a few Westfield's in the car park but ashamedly being a soft northerner (of the essex variety) I shall be in the tin top whist my Westfield enjoys one final month tucked away in the garage Hope to see some of you there Mark
  12. It barely seems like a month since the last one but it is so once again we shall be meeting this Sunday from 12 noon at the Lodge Inn SWF from 12:00. This month I could also do with a bit of help from our members as the print deadline for Westfield World is looming ever closer yet so far I have nothing to write about. The winter months have been quiet on the whole for organised events out and about around Essex, so for the next local area write up i'm looking for your own stories and news about what you have been up to with your cars? Has your Westfield been languishing in the garage unseen to the human eye for the last 3 months (or years in the case of some members) Are you upgrading, and if so what and why? Is SORN for softies and you're still out driving. Where have you been? Is it broken and winter is that time for essential repairs? If you're still looking to buy, where have you been or what have you found If your selling then maybe tell us a little bit about why For those still building, where are you up to? I don't need an essay from you, just a couple of lines or some bullet points and maybe a photo of your handy work if you can. I'll then do the rest and put some words and pictures together for us to go in the next issue. They'll be no hiding I've been watching you all on the Forum and Facebook, so I know what you're up to Please email me your contributions or photos to wsccessex@btinternet.com or catch me at the pub. TIA Mark
  13. It's the new year and Christmas is but a distant memory so it must be time for our first Essex meet of 2014. Venue as usual will be the Lodge Inn SWF from 12:00 this coming Sunday. Take some time out from the winter upgrades to join us for us for a quick drink, some lunch if you like, a natter and in this inclement weather a game of spot the Westfield in the pub car park Hope to see some of you there Mark
  14. The last Essex meet of 2013 will be next Sunday 8th December as usual at the Lodge Inn SWF from 12:00. Take a break from the Christmas shopping to join us for us for a quick drink, some lunch if you like, a natter and if there's anyone who's car isn't Sorn'd then there may be some tyre kicking too. Hope to see some of you there Mark
  15. Yes folks it's monthly meet time again. As always 12noon onwards at the Lodge Inn, South Woodham Ferrers in sunny Essex http://www.lodge-inn.net/ This will be my last monthly meet in the Westfield before it's tucked away for it's winter hibernation and copious upgrades so I'm hoping for some nice weather to make the most of it. Everyone is welcome as always, whether you drive a Westfield or not, the pub food is always excellent Hope to see you there

    French Hotels

While looking for hotels in France for next years trip, I have come across the Ibis chain of hotels which are available in all the towns we are stopping, look quite nice in the pictures and are reasonably priced. Hon Fleur is £67 per room (same price for one or two people), but doesn't inlcude breakfast which is £7 per person extra. This is the Hon Fleur one http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-5645-ibis-honfleur/index.shtml Has anybody got any experience of this chain and any comments good or bad? Or recommend any alternatives that are worth considering. The locations required are Hon Fleur Ameins Reims
  17. Location is now The Cricketers Arms in Danbury post code CM3 4ED We will be holding another Photoshoot to see if we can get some snaps for the 2014 calender. Meeting at 7pm at Hylands Park (I just need to check it will back to normal after V) to grab some pictures. The location should provide a variety of backdrops (Hylands House, trees, views etc) and we will have Kevin on hand to provide tips and hints and answer any questions.
  18. It's that time again and once more this months Essex Area meet will be this Sunday 11th August at the Lodge Inn South Woodham Ferrers from 12:00 noon. Sadly for me I wont be able to make this one as I shall be supporting my villages inaugural car show it's so close I could actually push my car there and hence one that has to get my support. As always, everyone is welcome to the meet, whether you're a Westfield owner or not, and indeed any newbies in the area Come join us for a quick drink, a natter and some tyre kicking too. For any newbies thinking of coming along and unsure how to find is we can all normally be found parked up on the gravel and assuming it to be sunny then sat on a bench nearby, If it's wet then we'll be cowering in the bar area.
  19. Helmingham Hall Car Show on 4th August will be a great day out, WSCC Essex attended last year http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/95844-helmingham-classic-and-sports-car-show-5th-august/?hl=helmingham%20hall Details here for this years event: http://www.helmingham.com/eventsasp2.asp?ID=14 I will be getting ready for my holiday so Mark will be leading this one, meeting point with be Marks Tey railway car park at 9am ready to leave at 9:20am. Whose joining in? 1. Mark 2.

As always, everyone is welcome, whether you're a Westfield owner or not, and indeed any newbies in the area Come join us for a quick drink, a natter and some tyre kicking too. For any newbies thinking of coming along and unsure how to find us we can all normally be found parked up on the gravel and assuming it to be sunny sat on a bench nearby, If it's wet then we'll be cowering in the bar area. Myself and Pete will be easy to spot sporting our new blue shirts bearing our names and the WSCC logo For those interested in a Pre-lunch blat, Pete has also plotted us a varied 45mile route to the pub starting from the McDonalds at Boreham at 10am with a coffee stop along the way then hopefully arriving in time for lunch Hopfully we'll see you there
  21. For those of you not braving a visit Detling on Sunday there shall be another Essex Meet at the Lodge Inn South Woodham Ferrers from 12 noon, for beer and banter. As ever, fingers are crossed for fine weather so I can wheel out the Westfield for a short blat. Hope to see you all there Mark
  22. As discussed with a couple of people last Sunday, makes sense to have a couple of meeting places for Andy's run to the De Havilland Museum. The Lodge South Woodham Ferrers - meet at 8:30am ready to leave at 8:45am and head to second meeting place at McDonalds @ Boreham/Chelmsford - Meet at 8:45am ready to leave at 9:15am The route will be a bit more direct than usual. Anybody reading this and wanting to get involved, just shout and put your name down on Andy's thread. Pete
