Thank you so much Team. A very slick operation as ever and for me a very positive weekend for lots of reasons. We showed our positive, friendly, welcoming and professional side once again. Feeling happy and proud right now.7 points

Thinking of buying a new Westfield/Kit? not sure if the money that you are investing in it will be protected? well have no fear, these cars live on. My Westfield has been up on the ramps at my local garage today for the MOT, so I took the rare opportunity to photograph the underneath of it and I was very impressed. My car is 16 years old and has travelled over 50,000 miles, in all seasons including on salty roads. Glen wipes it clean with a cloth soaked in WD40 and follows it up with by wiping it over with a cloth soaked in ACF50. Any rust spots that appear are treated with De-Rust and painted in Hammerite. With no rusting wheel arches to worry about and a modern engine under the bonnet you can own an unusual car without the issues that a classic car may bring. I believe the value of my car is slightly more than what I paid for it 5 years ago and apart from an initial set up spend at Northampton Motor Sport it runs economically. The MOT was passed with no advisories and the certificate shows this years mileage to be 7271 miles. Buy with confidence, these are just the best and most amazing cars.4 points

Thats a bit sad really... what an amazing weekend, I think I found my spiritual home... or perhaps other mad people! Have to say a huge thank you for such a warm welcome from so many of you. It made all the difference! I am EVEN considering buying a camping set up so I can use the car and leave the motor home at home... omg did I put that out there! Have a great week everyone!!!! Just taken out 12 months cover with AutoAid. They seem to have a promotional price for new business. £48.31 to cover me driving any car (taxed, insured and mot'd) So that's the Westfield, my Pick-up Truck the wife's car etc Full UK cover, usual roadside assist, home assistance and full UK recovery anywhere to 1 destination. Free cover for legal spouse (or the equivalent in same-sex stuff) again for any car she/he is driving Recovery also includes caravan (or a 3 metre trailer) which will be useful for my circumstances I've never had personal cover before, we have something through our bank account. For this (introductory price) is seems decent value. Just thought it was worth a mention.....2 points

Whilst I hate to be “that” person, can I recommend that anyone with footage shares it privately without announcing the fact via social media and the net. Really wouldn’t want anyone getting in trouble “after the fact”. Much of Stoneleigh is in a prohibited airspace zone due to the local airport, I believe there are also local restrictions applied by the organisers themselves, or at least there were, last year.2 points

Oh heavens yes, a few would constantly insist in posting long closely spaced, paragraph free pieces, all typed in one of those horrific mock copperplate type fonts. Other members, genuinely had to then post how to copy and paste the original unreadable posts into new posts in substitute fonts. Or the other old favourite choosing a font colour that matched closest to their car. This would be ok on a BMW forum where it was all dark grey, dark blue, black etc! Unfortunately for us, yellow is usually one of the most popular colours. And a yellow font on a white screen is again, really difficult to read. (You ended up having to select the text, as if about to copy it) just to be able to read it. And of course, those amongst us with any sort of publishing or graphic design background, etc. used to end up as gibbering wrecks in the corner at all these abhorances!2 points

Problem is, the software we use kind of messed things up inadvertently. When trying to swap to and from the extra space it got messed up and now some posts end up with massive amounts of space if we switch back. So the current set up is the lesser screwed up option (that still allows the added space to be added manually) going forward. Database cost is irrelevant - but you are correct. Always happy to to try and accommodate individual requests but as Mr Spock would say ‘the needs of the many Jim’ 😁1 point

@marcusb, pretty sure those pixelated ne'er do wells are known to me. I shall now pop behind the scenes and consider the unspeakable things I could do to their profiles...1 point

yes remember that, Glen has the group howling with laughter when I refer to 'my' car, especially when we move on to talk about the MX5, which also seems to be 'my' car but at least I do all the cleaning on the MX5 Good idea @marcusb. Your words are very kind.1 point

That was me 😁 I wasn’t disappointed - just trying to figure out how I could persuade my “other half” to be as fastidious - and realising it was an impossible dream 😊1 point

I think Julie keeps a painting of Rita, covered in ever more mud and muck as the years pass, up in the attic. It’s the only way. I’ve been on Peak District runs where we look like our cars were parked behind a herd of cows in a wind tunnel, and Rita is near spotless!1 point

See you there, Julie, but i won't join you on the blatt, I'll stay and keep the Speed |Series guys company, as I haven't got a Westfield now (😉😊) and the Jaguar is now spotless underneath having been all steam cleaned, ready for a bit of work to be done starting Monday, underneath the car.1 point

Stu, I have also been thinking along the same lines as you - Looking forward to the responses! Brad1 point

Thanks, I will have a look at it. Interesting thread discussion BTW. Myself and a couple of friends have had some discussions around getting an MX5 to use as a 'spare' track car1 point

I'm going to get Saturday under my belt before I book.. Its a shake down for me and I need to be happy everything is right.. Good to meet you yesterday by the way1 point

This was because some users occasionally posted heavily formatted text that was just plain difficult to read. The formatting is kept deliberately simple to aid with readability and consistency.1 point

Dunno andy bates reasons behind it. You should be able to stick a cat in a bike engine as long as You re-map the engine for the increase of temperature (basically flooding it with fuel at high loads) and sacrificing a considerable amount of peak power. Having said that... NO. i wouldn't do that to my car for the sake of few sprints... or maybe yes. It is an absolute shame that this happened. I had a funny conversation with the scrutineer that did my vehicle passport about the character who triggered all this massive issue... i can't quote here the conversation because would get both of us in trouble. I wouldn't be worried of sprinting without CAT on any event not organised by longton. I think would be a good exercise for us guys, to do a bit of research and find out if he works with any other club where we may be invited, to flag it as dangerous. For what i've been told by a few scrutinieers all of them are well advised to dont take actions for non safety critical concerns in amateur motorsport unless there is a competitor claim... (that includes the bloddy lithium batteries too) so... if we can find events that are idiot free, we should be fine.1 point
