  2. I've always used @Howden Insurance - Specialist Vehicle. The Thatcham branch is the most clued up on kit cars. Other companies are available.

  4. Hi Bob, I'm just North of Maldon, Essex - happy to show you around my 1998 widebodied car, or you're welcome to join our regular monthly meet (next one is on Sunday 12th in Battlesbridge, Essex from 9.30 onwards) where we normally have at least 5 cars Cheers Mike

  5. @Martin Bell - (Bellyboy) East Anglia AO will probably know someone close. @Chris Emm is selling his due to a back issue. It is an excellent car and highly maintained. Think it is £10500 based in Worksop but well worth the journey. He isn’t often on this forum so if you are interested, drop me a note and I’ll try and wake him up!! Welcome to the club. Best investment you will ever make. 😁

  7. Give it time, I’ve got faith in your ability to eventually get booted! 👍 Personally, I’m aiming to be the first Life Member to get banned. It’s a matter of timing of course, needs to be when lots of members are here to appreciate it!

  11. Hi, welcome! The usual great advice, so far! It's amazing just how much room can be found in the (now standard) wide body Westfield. (SEiW, or SEW in the old Westfield model names, though FW models are also wide body models, too.) You have a great budget, and while it's harder getting to see different examples at this time of year, it is - for the usual weather reasons, the "best" time of year to buy, price wise, as they're always a little softer priced over Autumn/Winter.

  12. Howden, Lancaster, AiB, all are sponsors or Traders in the WSCC, all understand kit cars, give good service (that sometimes includes beneficial rates to members) and are recommended.

  13. You are probably not too far from MK Sportscars by the sound of it. I would suggest you give them a visit and have a chat, they are very helpful and have loads of cars there of various makes. I'm pretty sure they would let you sit in one or two and have a good look around. Unfortunately I live miles away or I'd be there on a regular basis just for the info I could pick up and no doubt the banter. They have regular open days too so give them a call and arrange to go look around maybe?

  15. Engine and gearbox out! Was planning on leaving the engine in, but needed a few mm extra to for the gearbox to clear the clutch plate. In the end I pulled it all out. Not the easiest on your own with a trolley jack but got there in the end! Committed now to a full chassis refresh, fix some rust, have a few extra bars welded in, etc etc etcccccccc.... And get rid of the rats nest thats the wiring loom. The list continues to grow!!

  17. Have recently moved back to the UK from the south of Spain and was thinking about picking myself up a weekend car so I can go out driving around the country roads and start attending some shows, based in Newport Pagnell so can get to most places easy enough.. Have always had Japanese sports cars in the past and most recently in Spain had a Nissan 350z but wanted to change things up and bit and get something that is easier to work on and a bit more fun.. So was thinking about a 7 style car and Westfields seem to be the best starting point to get into these types of cars. I am still in the process of extending the drive on my new property and then building a shelter/garage to keep a car in but wanted to do as much research on these as possible and well this seems like the best place haha I guess I was looking for one with a more modern engine so so maybe one with a ford Zetec engine anything over 150bhp really.. but as long as parts are easily available I am good really as I can do most work myself. Prob looking to spend around 10 to 15k don't want to go too crazy on my first one. But yeah wanted to say hi and I am sure I will have some questions that I will pop up in the relevant parts of the forums

  21. Hi and welcome! You have a decent budget, you'll find a number of nice cars about at that price. In terms of you fitting in one, the wide body Westfield is actually very accommodating and just about the largest of the "sevens" for interior space. I'm 6ft5 and "big boned" and have no issues, especially with lowered floors.

  25. Making it myself, squared up the bonnet as best as possible to make it a bit straighter and made the gaps more uniform, so hopefully the carbon one will fit loads better! Should lose a couple KG's as well!! Just have to decide on what weave orientation I want to have next, and make the plugs for the vents. Might make myself a couple bonnets for fun, but have no intention currently on producing many. Might put the mould up for sale after I have had my fun though!
