  1. Heading down Countisbury Hill into Lynmouth on a fab day out with the Dorset, Devon & Somerset mob. Thirteen cars and a bike, plus some great weather. Spectacular views coming down the hill, though best not to lose concentration due to the lack of fence and sheer drop! 😱🤣

  3. Not the postie, but a mobile tyre service to fit my tyres. Not sure when I will swap wheels as I’m really enjoying the r888rs, but the Rainsport 5s make more sense to get me through the winter.

  6. These AI/LLM programs don't really have any intelligence, they're really just convincing sounding bull**** generators. They're statistical models, there's no problem solving ability there. This is really well demonstrated by the recent amusement at chatgpt's inability to answer the question "how many letter Rs in strawberry". Not only would it incorrectly answer 2, it would steadfastly argue that it was right. Because they are trained by analysing large amounts of text and developing statistical models about what word follows another word, they are really just complex guessing engines. The problem (specifically in this case, but in general also) is that there's not a lot of learned argument around about how many Rs there are in strawberry because anyone over the age of about 5 would just count them, get a definitive answer and get on with their day. But that's a process that is just beyond LMMs; they just don't even have that simplistic level of problem solving ability. So all they can do is answer that, for that 'shape' of question, the answer is probably 2. But because they answer with such disturbingly good English people grant them authority that they just don't deserve. Thank you for attending my Ted talk 🫣

  9. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g2qp8wed0o And I'll pile on to EDF. Not price related but bereavement. Needed to change ALL bills/insurances and household "stuff" from my fathers name to mine. Just about every company, agency and whatnot understood and just did it. Not EDF. I complained about the lack of service and basic human understanding. Their "bereavement department" wrote to me saying they will be in touch to resolve. That was May 2023... I resolved it by moving from EDF to British Gas. Took 48 hours with no questions asked. EDF sent a "we're sorry to lose you, but why?" email. It was a two word reply...

  10. My "customers" use AI searches to try to outsmart me and drive prices down. Thankfully there is quite a lot of rubbish written about those parts of my profession that it's easily defeated. The problem is when it comes up against someone (and there are plenty of them) who believe AI can't actually be wrong about anything. At the moment the film "Idiocracy" is looking more like a prophecy that is actually coming true...

  11. Thanks I’m yet to get the experience of driving it but the spec seems pretty good with 130bhp at the flywheel so I’m told.

  13. And having just reviewed the thread, it sunk in you switched to Octopus. Sounds like the exact fault I had. Demand a new meter because clearly they haven’t fixed the fundamental issue. Unfortunately, you have to be (incredibly) patient while they work through every possible option other than the one that actually solves it. They have a script that they won’t deviate from and will try everything possible before putting in a new meter…because that’s expensive. Hopefully you don’t get the same comms issues with the new meter that I had! Happy to discuss offline if you want, just PM me if you want.

  14. Yes looked on there Steve. An Anembo engineering one would be perfect as it’s quite narrow at the front. Squeezing a yb into a Striker so space is tight .

  15. My mother got so many goodwill payments from EDF that it was incredible. It was in the multiple hundreds of pounds. If it wasn't for the fact that my mother is 84 and there was a deadline beyond which her heating would be disabled it would have been a really nice earner.

  17. @westfield_bumble Point of order, the issue is nothing to do with the EV is it? It’s a metering fault. You’ve been double-charged for quite some time…..you should be grateful to the EV for making it obvious

  27. I went out for the first proper drive ever (after 600 miles) by myself. Glorious sunshine and decent roads. Maybe I enjoyed myself too much, as 'Life360' (the app we use to keep track of family members) reckoned I had 35 'risky events' over 47 miles...😬. I ended up at my usual haunt (Elstree Aerodrome) for a cup of coffee. One day I'll find a nice vintage aeroplane for the XI to pose against 😃.
