  1. Maybe a bit early, but the winter strip down and refresh has begun! Few changes to be made, hopefully next time it comes out the garage in one piece she will be more of a machine! 😁

  2. Thanks for the nice comments folks I thought I’d take some of the bodywork off (takes all of 2 minutes) to show the engine area a bit more, plus some more pics of carbon 😄

  3. Interesting, where have you placed your cold air intake? I'm always interested in how other turbo cars are done differently to mine. I'm in a similar situation atm though! Started to do one job, then decided may as well do as many as I can given September is closing in.

  4. Good turn out - and the road works let @Markh80 North East Area Organiser catch up (I’ll let him say why 🤣)

  6. God I hate that when you can't stay with the car, I actually get anxiety most times, pacing around like an expectant father. Luckily my usual MOT guy actually wants me to stay sat in the car! Unfortunately he's flipping retired 😭 View from up top of the 4 post lift last MOT 😂😂 I'll probably never get to do that again 😥

  7. And....... breathe!!! The red rocket has a fresh MOT! She had been laid up for 4 months due to work and family commitments (so needed a few quid thrown at her) but I'm so pleased my happy place is back on the road!!!

  8. I had a similar experience great piece of brick, did not see it until too late, but a dirty great dent in the passenger side steel lowered floor. I've very glad it was not the same place though on the driver side as that is where the brake and fuel lines run. If I referb or build another Westi I'd not route them as guided they would be all down the tunnel sides.

  9. Just an update on Sunday, the other car club are meeting at 7 in Kent and then winding their way to Cowfold for about 9:15. Last time we had a couple of meeting points ( Silent Pool, Ockley, & Billingshurst) So far I have David, Gareth, Phil, Ian and Andy. So I think Ockley works for David ,Phil & Ian; Billingshurst for Gareth and we could pick Andy up at Buck Barn? I can then work backwards with timings. Last time the other group dried the damp benches for us 😉

  10. But smaller contact patch so potentially less grip? It's a complex thing I reckon, tyre choice. So many variables to weigh up, some good on one side, some good on the other.

  15. The intake on my car is infront the block behind the radiator. My turbo is mounted under the manifold so the intake is relatively low compared to yours.

  17. @Flying Carrot Steve Yes, we (the Dorset lot) attended the KitNet track day at Castle Combe today! Were you in your car? I can’t say I saw one plus mine was on the back of a trailer. Had a great day there, was really hot 🥵

  18. MoT passed this morning - at a new garage because I've moved 120 miles. Car 25 years old and I think must've been one of the first ones with a cat (which needs to be HOT), so I'm pretty relieved. My old place was brilliant - they'd even let me postpone if it rained on MoT day. New one seems friendly enough but I don't get to stay with the car anymore.....

  21. Another thrilling update for all those interested in ‘What have we done’ We will be collecting the car one day the week after next and Andrew at Toybox has come up trumps and found us a roof 😎 This afternoon has been spent fitting the lift. All the heavy stuff is done, electrics and hydraulics tomorrow, hopefully ending with the Spitfire up on top bunk before we go away Monday morning🤞 The good news is, it actually fits!

  24. I've been running chunks of what I think was concrete over, although it could've been a brick or chunk of kerbstone. I couldn't see it until the very last moment as it was the same colour as the road and in dappled shade, although I certainly felt it as it bounced the car into the air! I'm damn glad I didn't go over it a few inches to the right, as I suspect at least the sump and oil pump would've been trashed. Guess I get to practice my aluminum and steel working skills some more in the near future......
