  6. Having almost written my car off in 2004 by a big aquaplane, I can't emphasise enough how lethal wide tyres and a very light car combination could be.

  8. Not bothered about rain, unless is too hard. The tyres are R888R and are surprisingly good on the damp. The thing they don’t like is standing water when they can get quite lairy! My side doors seal very well (rubber trim around the front and bottom edge), so I don’t get water spraying up into the car. I wasn’t expecting rain today so didn’t take my half hood or even a coat, was just in shorts and T shirt. It’s fine so long as you are moving, gets a little damp when you have to stop! I go out in most weathers, salty roads are the main thing I avoid.

  10. Attended Horsepower Hill at Heveningham Hall Country fair last weekend. This wasn’t about an A to B time but the speed you crossed the line. The track was short but fun. I was told there was a bend over a blind crest so lifted on my first run. I didn’t notice a bend so went for it on my next 4 runs. I got faster each run and my fastest was 90mph. The worst bit being a cattle grid 200m past the finish line so the brakes got a good test. There were some nice cars competing and having fun from an F40, FX90, Lamborghini SVJ, R8s, Audi RS, 800bhp Focus. The winner was a 1500bhp Nissan GTR with 119mph. Me and my daughter loved it and will go again next year.

  11. You're not bothered by the damp I see Stuart. What tyres are you running? What do you do if it rains, just put rainwear on and carry on? I used to quite like it in the rain as long as it wasn't too hard and I could keep moving. That was in an exoskeletal car though, easier to dry out.

  13. Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Russell Brynolf, retired engineer, and I've always wanted to build a kit car for myself. Last August I finally received my kit from Westfield, yes, here in the USA, delivered in a large crate containing many, many boxes! Not the best of assembly instructions, and several parts missing, but, overcome those issues and I'm proud to say I finished the build yesterday!! Pictures attached. Next is to get it inspected and registered. To achieve this in Michigan the car is required to have bumpers front and rear at 14-22" from the ground. They will look a little stupid but that the only way to complete the inspection. Engine still runs a little lumpy, but otherwise drives great. let me know any comments or suggestions. Ta.
