  3. As some of you know, my little green car had its MOT June 6th. Well she passed, and we are going out today for some more familiarisation with driving her. We are planning on going to the Coleshill Auto Breakfast Meet Big Day Out on the 29th as that was the last event my dad drove her to before he passed. If anyone is in the Midlands area and fancies joining me, the more the merrier. https://www.coleshillautobreakfastmeet.org/event-details-registration/big-day-out-all-day-event

Driven careffuly because IT was first time she was working and all new (including me sitting on wrong side of the car ) . Westfield with plate type LSD. front and rear ARB. Mnr open diff no ARBs etc etc Mnr Mnr vs Westfield

  5. Maybe some of you have heard the latest news – Le Mans 2025 was won by Polish driver Robert Kubica! His main sponsor is ORLEN. While I was testing my recently finished (and finally working!) MNR, it seems some folks from ORLEN were watching my driving — and they sent me a whole cistern of their fuel. Nice!

  6. It turns out that there's a look I give passengers, in particular the wife, when they're bouncing around and being distracting: It was, however, quickly followed by my more usual face when she started giggling:

  9. Sorry to hear this and glad you are ok. my advice is get the car home and locked in your garage, don’t let it out of your sight, any assessors can come to you, that way you’re in a better position to keep the salvage if its written off. once write offs get in the system they can soon disappear to a salvage yard miles away.

  10. Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Russell Brynolf, retired engineer, and I've always wanted to build a kit car for myself. Last August I finally received my kit from Westfield, yes, here in the USA, delivered in a large crate containing many, many boxes! Not the best of assembly instructions, and several parts missing, but, overcome those issues and I'm proud to say I finished the build yesterday!! Pictures attached. Next is to get it inspected and registered. To achieve this in Michigan the car is required to have bumpers front and rear at 14-22" from the ground. They will look a little stupid but that the only way to complete the inspection. Engine still runs a little lumpy, but otherwise drives great. let me know any comments or suggestions. Ta.

  11. Agree with this..also looks like your sides are black so shouldn't be colour match issues and would be far better than repair.. assuming new parts is available

  12. If it’s going through insurance I would push for replacing the whole rear tub. Unlike the ZK bodywork which includes the side panels the FW is a much easier job being only the rear panel. Removing it will also then give you the opportunity to check for any hidden damage at the same time.

  13. Mark, these people are down the road from you and may be able to help https://soundcomposites.co.uk/custom-composites-product-manufacture/ will you be able to patch it up enough to still do Loton next month ?

  14. Hi, sorry to hear of your accident. I hope you and any passengers are ok. Living where you do, if Howden will allow it, I'd try a grp boat repair yard. Ages ago I had a Dutton Malaga B+, I did rear end damage to it (I span in some rare Dorset snow and hit a lamp post). Living near Poole I went to a local boat yard for the tub repair. At the time I got lucky with British Racing Green spray paint, but with new scanning technology a boat yard may be able to blend gel coat, or match a spray paint to the tub. I hope that helps Gary

  16. So a spreadsheet as promised - @Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset's mob have scored the most individual points so far (individual member names for that entry please and same from @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative please) and is leading the area challenge by taking a big group to Crapstone, but @Paul Baker - Bristol Bath and Cotswold AO, having visited four different places, is currently leading the individual points challenge: Keep them coming!

  17. I've never seen a roll hoop with that extra extension on top before! For a tall driver I guess? Or if wearing a helmet maybe? Seems like an excellent idea to me.

  18. Having tried this once, see here…. I thought I could improve on it if I tried again. Main problem was it was a little too high, reducing the gap between steering wheel and my somewhat sizeable thighs, and also the back support wasn’t great. I could do a much better job with a second pair of hands, but that’s not possible currently, so this is where I am. Having been reassured last time that pouring the whole lot in one go wouldn’t fill the garage with foam, I went for it! I taped the bag up as high as it would go, to cope with any overfill, and poured it all in. Sparing you all the detail, it basically went well, filling up behind my back and around my shoulders very well, although ironically this time leaving a bare patch under my bum which I couldn’t manage to fill. At least I was low enough this time! I trimmed up the excess from the top and sides, cut the hole for the harness, put some foam over the bare patch, glued it to a thin piece of ply to give it some rigidity and then taped the whole thing up. Finally, I added some vinyl to make it look a little better. Beautiful it still isn’t, but it probably looks a bit better than the last one. More importantly it sits me lower in the car, giving me better clearance between wheel, hands and knees, and also has better shoulder support. You can see from the shoulder width that I’m not really built for a narrow Westfield 🤣. Having seen @Andrzejseat with the narrow shoulder support, I simply wouldn’t fit in there! So, I think this one will do me for a while, it’s comfy and secure, and gives me a better position than the previous version.

  19. Wow I am impressed that You managed to do it alone without other person pouring foam ! I had a chance recently to really hard test foam seat proper time on track and IT is day and night compared to fixed dimensions grp or carbon shell seat type. Btw the same Day there was 3 formuła 3 cars on tests. The same foam seats "construction" . Also finished with tape. Worth to follow raster and better rather than better looking designs

  23. Beautiful example of an original Long Wheel Base 1974 VW GP Beach Buggy (as detailed on the V5) - MOT and Road Tax exempt. Rebuilt and restored from the ground up. Original 1600 engine 1974 chassis. Original speedometer. EMPI gear knob and wheel. New seats. Drives lovely, lots of power! Body sprayed in white metallic with blue metallic stripe. 5. 1 JL Audio Sound system is an absolute highlight with a custom built rear mould housing a sub and two rear speakers, plus 2 front speaker and Bluetooth interface. Sounds incredible. Condition is superb, a few minor imperfections on the body work. Driven in the summer and gets lots of attention! Well maintained by experienced retired mechanic who specialises in classic cars. Comes with lots of history (pictures on a USB stick of the rebuild). Also comes with a towing A frame that attaches to the front of the chassis. Absolute delight and will be missed however it's time to move onto something new and let someone else enjoy driving down the road listening to The Beach Boys! Any questions please ask away. Pictures don't do it justice in my view, it's fantastic. Happy to take out on a drive to experience the thrill. The specification is outstanding and the attention to detail in the restoration is lovely. Every nut and bolt stainless steel. The engine all chrome and looks elegant. It's also super comfortable and carpeted. There's also room in that back for luggage. I drove this back from Bournemouth to Kent when I purchased it. Since then it's been on day trips to the beach, and even gets the odd trip out to the shops! Only on sunny days of course! Ask for more details and pictures. Price £8995

First of all thank you to everyone that showed up last night 10 kits of which 7 of them were Westfields for our 2nd north east meet in a long time, it was great effort by everyone that turned up. moving forward Sevens @ 7 Breakfast run 28/06/25 after to speaking with you guys last night the consensus was 7 am is to early to meet lol, so plan for that morning is to meet around 8am at the Church Mouse DH23RJ head over to Stanhope, onto Alston and hartside for photo opportunity, then from there head back into Alston and south through to Middleton Teasdale and stain drop etc. ( these are some great driving roads ), before circling back to crook to stop for breakfast/brunch at the diary barn. Anyone interested in this feel free to give me a shout the more the merrier and if I can get some numbers together I will book a table at the dairy barn. North East Meet Tuesday 08/07/25 08/07/25 Church Mouse DH23RJ at 7pm for our monthly meet, would be great to see you guys there again and hopefully a few new ones too please spread the word we will organise a run out for the pub on this evening and try not to stay so static this time lol Car Barn Beamish Best of British 24/07/25 A few of us are booked into this event and hopefully going to try and promote the club a bit, for those that don't know much about these car barn events, These are held on the usually one of the last Thursdays of each month snd this year have been themed, as it states July,s theme is best of British ( which a Westfield is in my eyes ), Car barn is now also a caterham dealer for the north east of this year so it would be great to get as many Westfields/kits there to show a bit support to kit world and also a good bit of banter to have more there then they do lol @westfield_bumble is a regular to these events so if anyone wants any information on getting there or how the event works drop him a message, hopefully see some of you guys there on the day/night. 27. For Christmas my son gifted me an entry ticket to the Spa 24 race. And because we both like driving, we planned a whole holiday around it. I set off today to Folkestone to stay in a hotel overnight to work around the thunderstorms tonight and will meet up with my son at the Eurotunnel tomorrow at 7. From there we will drive to Reims to meet up with a couple of friends who will join us for the trip. I’ll try to update the thread regularly 👍

  28. Sunday 15th of June This was going to be a driving day, where we would get to our next stay almost directly, and then did the last 20 miles or so the very long way around. It turned out a 9 hour exercise, including lunch, and many petrol stops for yours truly. When we finally arrived at the 2nd stay in Saint-Georges-de-Commiers, the pool was a welcoming sight

  29. Saturday, 14th of June After an eventful night, met up with my son and headed for the tunnel. Then it was an easy trip to Reims where we re-united with the others. A French friend from last year who isn't joining us this year decided he was going to say hello as well, whilst a German friend would meet us at the first stay in Andert-et-Condon.

  35. Had a bad day yesterday. Out a run with my mate in the MK and was involved in an accident resulting is severe damage to the N/S of my car, just at the door area. Thankfully neither me or the other driver were injured, though I am pretty sore today. I contacted Howdens and KGM today and have sent in pictures to be reviewed by their assessors on Monday. The damage is confined to one area, the exhaust was squashed flat, the top rail at the door pushed right in and deformed the passenger seat. The lower floor has been buckled a bit and I think the transmission tunnel might be deformed too. The scuttle panel has been pushed up and there is now large gap between it and the top of the footwell. Fair to say it's a bit of a mess. I'm totally gutted, after some recent upgrades it was really going great and I had some more big runs planned. Definitely a bad day 😞

  36. Still sobing . Some tiptop ran into me at roundabout traffic lights today and took out my passenger side wheel arch and made a mess of my fw rear valance boot area. Luckily no damage to chassis or fuel tank but it looks like roll bar mounting has been moved a tad. Reported to insurance company howdens. Question does anyone know a good bodyshop in south west that could do the repairs under an insurance claim. The wheel arch is an easy replace the boot tub more of a challenge I suspect. Anyone had experience of how these jobs pan out.
