  3. I didn’t really know how many were going to turn up when this was arranged as there were other events going on this weekend. To arrive at the starting point to see 9 cars was indeed uplifting. 7 Westfields, a Tiger and a MEV. Special mention has to go to @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO who surprised us all by turning up in his fully rebuilt Westfield - first trip out since getting it back on the road. Brilliant. We left in convoy and drove an interesting route to The Ramblers in Edale via the beautiful Winnates Pass. At one point we literally had to wait for the pot hole crew to fix the road in front of us which gave the ‘locals’ the opportunity to leave the convoy to get to the pub first. At The Ramblers, we were joined by Chris Emms and Mo. After a hearty dinner the remaining 5 intrepid explorers carried on to Baslow Cricket Club Cafe for cake before all going our separate ways. Fantastic day out. Weather was exceptional for time of year and a great bunch of people. For me, living soooo far away, it was nearly 6hrs of driving leaving home at 8am. Covered well over 200 miles. Home at 6pm knackered but happy. Till next time…. Credits for photos to @Jakejmagee who accepted my request to be the day’s official photographer. Well done. 😁

  7. A fantastic first trip out, thanks for organising it Andrew! Great to be out with everyone again. My car went well, nothing fell off, though we did do some detours and have to avoid crazy drivers. I am also a 'bit knackered' too! Left home at 8am, returned at 9.30pm after 258 miles. Not bad for a first shake down run.

  8. On the way home I stopped off at Baffle Haus and South Wales Aviation Museum. It’ll be worth having a breakfast meet at Baffle haus (old post) and then it’s 15-20 minutes to S.W.A.M.

  9. Thanks to @AndrewBClarke for arrange some great roads for us. Thanks also for all who turned up for the usual great company. I met @Tony H in his lovely red Mev, just a few miles from home for a nice cool morning air run to the start at McD. We were greated by @Jakejmagee and some newly aquired biker friends of his. A few pics from me.

  11. Hi, I've just rejoined the club after a few years away as I've recently bought a new car. Anyone know it? It started life as an early (1990 chassis) wide body cross flow in green. It was painted red at some stage in its life and then substantially rebuilt by someone in the 2000s who converted it to its current Puma 1.7 Sigma engine. It was then repainted again to it's current blue colour scheme by the previous owner. It's a bit poorly at the moment. The ECU config / map has been messed up and I was told before I bought it that it's down on compression on 3&4 so that needs investigating next. It's clearly been left outside and got wet but although the carpets have suffered, the chassis etc seems to have survived OK. First step is getting it running and then I'll make it look a bit more loved. I've already got a list of parts needed in the wanted section. I'd really like some different wheels!

  17. Further to discussion with Tony ( @DamperMan) and @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport I wound the perches down two full turns on both sides and stiffened the shocks up to 9 clicks. I drove it 30 or so miles to the Cheshire meet on Thu night like this. The banging was reduced in frequency and intensity over some of our poor quality roads but the ride stiffness was harder and I'd not want to run like this normally. It would be fine on track. I dropped the shocks to 0 clicks on the carpark at the Golden Pheasant and demonstrated the knocking to @Greenstreak-Andy D who agreed it was likely the dampers in full extension. I wound the clicks up to 5 for the journey hold and it was crash and bang city all the way. Yesterday morning, I've reset my front to 140mm and rear to 165mm (chassis rail not lowered floor) with my weight in the car and set the rear shocks to 6 clicks up (front are at 5 clicks up). This is how I've ran since originally fitting the Spax in Nov 2022. A short 15 mile test drive confirmed all the be wonderful and no more knocking. clearly I've undone all @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport good work with the corner weighting, however it was always an experiment for me with my mobile laboratory. I enjoy it. Some experiments work, some don't. I'm just home from a great 100 mile trip round the peaks with approx 50 of those with a 12 stone passenger and the car has ran fine. no knocks, no bottoming out handled great. @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport has kindly offered to take a look at my corner weights free of charge, so I will revisit in the next few weeks, but I'll not be adjusting the ride height at the rear much higher!

  18. We had a brilliant outing this morning, great weather and great company. I counted 12 cars in total, with 6 Westfields, 2 GTMs, a V-Storm, a Lotus, a Ford Capri and a Robin Hood. We kicked off with the early meet at the Cross Hands pub just north of Bristol and it turned into an impromptu takeover of their car park. Kirk had the longest journey there, travelling over from South Wales and we gradually joined him and lined everyone up. We were then joined by some other enthusiasts over the other side of the car park who must have had the same idea. We went to say hello and looked at two more Capris, an Opel Manta, a Rover Coupe and a beautiful Porsche which I'd love to have learnt more about if we'd had the time. Then we set off and had a great run down to Five Zeros Supercars at Bradford on Avon. It was a lot of fun leading the convoy and we managed to stay together! Roads were reasonably quiet so a nice drive. We arrived and lined up alongside Gary's Robin Hood and it didn't take long for the car park to be packed. It was Aston Martin weekend and the glorious weather was obviously encouraging everyone to come out. And it did make me laugh that our three yellow cars stuck together! We enjoyed a breakfast bap or two, had a nice catch up with everyone and looked at some great machines. When we eventually drifted away, Peter led some of us on a tour up northwards via Castle Combe. Peter's Fireblade is rapid and Flying Carrot Steve was flying after him in his turbo, the pair of them were out of sight at the end. A great blat to finish the morning. Thanks to everyone who came out to play. Looking forward to the next one already.

  20. Afternoon everybody my name is Mark, and I have taken on the role lately of area organiser for the north east. I am hoping to put together along with help of some other members some meets and runs out for members to get involved in through out this year and will hopefully be documenting this throughout. I am looking at starting our local meets again as of Tuesday the 15th of April with the venue being church mouse , Chester moor, chester le street DH2 3RJ 7pm This venue has been used several times in the past so feel it's a good starting point to gauge interest . I am looking forward to hopefully seeing some you northeast lads there and seeing if we can hopefully bring the Westfield/kit car scene back to the north east thanks Mark

  24. DJC are local to me and I see them quite often - not really a kit anymore as the engineering standard is really high and parts are seriously high spec like an Atom, but lovely to poke around.
