  1. 8 Westfield's meeting at The Great British Car Journey We all scurried inside for breakfast and a catch up Look what's new on the menu, cake! scones made fresh that morning. We are coming here for lunch next time. Next we went on the route, everyone drove well and we all kept together. Thank you to Glynn for helping me, he knew the route and kept an eye on the rear of the convoy. I named it the 'Hang on Tight Tour' the wind was blowing and it felt like we were going fast even when we weren't, wind combined with uneven roads, phew. Good though, twisty, sunny and great views. Becky took a couple of photo's on the move. We arrived at the bikers cafe, The Yondermann. It was full of biker's so we sat outside. The Yondermann Yondermann overflow car park Yondermann seating area Chris and Mo joined us here and promptly ordered black pudding sausage rolls, good choice. Although all the food is good here. We followed the sun to The Pavillion at Baslow for cakes. The car park The seating area And finally the cake It's been lovely to see you all, your Westfield's are just fabulous, beautiful machines that look their best en mass. What a fantastic thing to do, to all meet up and drive along in the stunning Peak District, aren't we lucky? Thank you and see you next time x

  2. Another 35 mile run out today. Engine running great again once I'd replaced the ignition leads and rebuilt the carb. An excellent drive in lovely weather. Engine currently running like a Swiss watch. The XI appears to have shrunk, and I haven't even been out in the rain yet ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜Ž.

  4. I sent my rear shocks back to @DamperMan and he swiftly returned them with the spring perches replaced and copper slip on the threads. I also asked for slightly taller top hats and he obliged. Many thanks Tony. The original strut top- Now look like this- I set the ride height roughly to where I though it needed to be and booked back in with @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport to finish of the corner weighting. Sat 29th March 2025 I arrived on time a CleaR HQ and Maurici was ready and waiting. I was straight onto the scales and he started laughing! I was thinking "oh, no what's he found loose or broke"- He took a pic and showed me this- We were aiming for 50 here, so my 'rough guess' wasn't far off. The rear springs were wound up by 7 turns each side to give this On driving home, I noticed a mor regular crash/bang noise from both rear shocks on low speed bumps in the road (not potholes). I'd not noticed this on the way there and suspected the shocks were now at full extension with me in the car. Once home I turned both shocks down to 1 out of 14 and I could reproduce the knocking by pulling the car up on the roll bar. I've now wound both rear springs down by two full turns and increased the rear shocks to 9 (I'd got them set to 6 initially). I'll see how this behaves on my next run out.

  8. And to prove that it drives as well as sits in a carpark! Disclaimer: it sounds and looks a lot faster than it really was.

  11. Installed "sound system" in Westfield, propably not best place for speakers in terms of sound, luckily I am far from being audiophile, so really happy with that Need to convert some audio files to mono from stereo and should be fine

  12. You're the one who's craving a car with an actual roof - I bet it comes with cup holders, too ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. I visited CleaR Motorsport yesterday to have a full geo and corner weighting set up. @Mark19691 joined us for the session as he's keen to have his car set up soon too. My car is just a few feet away from the scales as @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport get set up. Here's the start position (with me in the car)- I'm circa 70kgs. The scissor lift made it easy to remove the rear wheels. Unfortunately the rear (alloy) spring perches on both my rear Spax dampers are galvanically corroded to my steel bodied dampers. We didn't want me to end of immobilised, so brute force was limited. A quick call to @DamperMan confirmed there was little more we could do with the shocks on the car and he's offered a solution for me to take up in the future to resolve the issue. As my car is only used on the road, some may say corner weighting isn't necessary any how. My front camber was adjusted and this meant the toe needed to be adjusted again (it was done recently when @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport kindly did a home visit). Rear camber was spot on and rear toe also. A quick test drive confirmed all was well and car was turning in nicely and handling well. A great service by a very friendly and knowledgeable member. It's great to have such a service available again in the NW and only 25 miles away for me. A rear asset to the club and if you've seen any of his video's of him flying round Oulton in the Lobster, he clearly understand how a driver can get the best out of a chassis too!

  15. The Moon is looking very orange tonight. Apparently there is a lot of smoke in the upper atmosphere, brought over on the jetstream from the wildfires in Canada.

  16. If anyone has eclipse glasses, do take a look at the Sun today. There is a huge sunspot which is visible without a scope, just make sure you check them for holes or damage first. Some poor phone images here just to show the size of it, and of a prominence nearby. The spot is about 17 times the size of the Earth. If you are somewhere dark, there is a strong chance of being able to see the Aurora tonight to the North as there have been up to five flares ejected recently and they are heading our way ๐Ÿ‘. I think early hours of the morning will be best but will check the alerts.
