Beautiful weather for a drive out so enjoyed that bit 🤪. Attendance at GBS was not particularly good and was clearly adversely affected by Mothering Sunday and people having other things to do. Good to catch up with @Martin Bell - (Bellyboy) Joint East Anglia AOand @Bigfoot Shame Emma couldn’t make it 🤪 Summers coming!!

Started up for the first time in four months after all the winter tinkering. I had the dash off, heater radiator replaced/ upgraded, wiper motor overhauled, additional gauge installed (Oil temp) and a few other jobs, cosmetic bits done as well. That’s the first time taking on such jobs but I thoroughly enjoyed it, almost as much as driving. Lots of photos taken and drawings made incase it all went wrong. Washed and polished yesterday, just got the oil change to do. It’s still a bit cold in the northern climes but will get out for a blast very soon. Also aiming for some track time at Knockhill this year.

Yes, it's potentially in breach of the construction and use regulations 1986 act: Factory etc Aeroscreens escape this requirement by the "adequate field of view without looking through the windscreen" exemption. It's one of those things, like front number plates, or their absence etc you do at your own risk. There is every chance that you could drive the car many, many thousands of miles with it in place with no bother. But IF you got stopped by the BiB, they could pursue the matter. Also, if you were involved in any sort of accident, regardless of fault, it could possibly be problematic, both with the BiB and with your insurance. A proceed at your own risk situation. (At the very least, plenty of Rain X or equivalent! and try and make it a bit m ore raked than the stock screen to improve the effectiveness of the Rain X.)

My “big reveal” momemt!

Was a cracking drive out and shame it was not as busy as was expected. Great to meet up with AndrewBClarke and Bigfoot. I did think at one point that i was driving on the moon with all the craters in the road.The A1 home was smooth but a bit boring but got some more miles on the beast.

I haven’t given it much thought to be honest as it’s only on there temporarily, but RainEx would probably help. I just took a chance thinking that there wasn’t going to be any rain in the middle of summer 🤣 Not sure on laws to be honest, if I was pulled over I would have just taken it off and binned it if I had too. I cut it using a jigsaw and a dedicated blade to cut polycarbonate, then used some edge trim around the outside to tidy it up 👍🏼

@Flying Carrot Steve Yes, I made it my self. I normally wear a helmet but I made this for my trip to Marseille as I didn’t fancy wearing my helmet in 30deg heat 🥵 Takes 2 minutes to take it off as it’s held on by four of these. Really pleased with how it worked for my trip (except for the rain) and now I have a template I can easily cut a new piece when needed.

They are very good Steve, mine would not be in nearly as good condition, nor would it start reliably if it were just in the damp garage. Despite it being on carbs, and a wet, cold-ish winter, it normally starts first or second attempt no problem.

Thanks again to Chloe for sorting my insurance 😀 A £30 increase in premium for year two of Westfield ownership but I'd to think Howden will offer a better level of cover than AF (who haven't even sent through a renewal offer!) Roll on warm weather and dry roads...and pothole repairs!
