Evening, Sorry for the absence, work has been long and hard trying to keep people working from home, and dealing with peoples mental state (especially my own). so here is the funny. i have been offered the CV19 vaccination for Friday, when asking why a 46 year old has been offered it, they told me its for a pre existing heart condition. what the devil pre existing heart condition? so i ask to speak to someone over this and they say they can't and a doc needs to call me , turns out i had a suspected heart mumor when i was 6 years old, now not a problem, but hey ho. i'm now on the list. (and its led to conversation with my mum about a time i went to great ormond street, which i had no clue about.) i have to say my mental health over all this has been pretty f*****, i'm a sociable animal and having minimal integrations with adults and totally focused on keeping a small business running during this has been tough. so here is my covid resolution:- 1) get active walk/cycle every week.... i need to fit in the race suit. 2) get the westy out and drive the b*****r, it makes me smile, it makes others smile and goodness me its a paper weight if I don't. 3) get socialable. I've missed you all. 4) hug my mum & dad, I've missed them and I'm lucky that we have all made it through this. 5) volunteering - its away of giving back and saying thank you. i count my blessings for working with a wonderful team, have a family that puts up with me, and volunteering has helped me through dark spell. so see you at a Manchester meet or the paddock at Blyton I've missed you all! cheers Panda

A bit more communication this evening and he’s looking to buy a Scooby powered V-Storm so an offer has been made by me for the Westie, he said he’s wanting £9k but I’m not prepared to go to that given it’s got problems now. I’m sure there’s some middle ground to be reached.

Times have certainly changed with the advent of chains, which get the support from the manufacturers so long as they do as they are told. In the 80's I worked as a mechanic for Diggles, a small Ford Dealership but we punched above our weight as we had a good reputation with the Fast Ford buyers. When they came in with cars with faults, especially at speed, it was always me who was sent to test them. We had once done a turbo conversion on a guy's 3ltr Capri and I had to take it out with the owner who kept shouting faster and we were going at some speed then. That sort of thing would never happen now as corporate rules mean you cannot do things like that. One thing about Mr Diggles, he was a real gentleman, he would never want to generate work by "upselling" he knew if you treated people right they would keep coming back. These days dealers are short term, sell as much as you can to who ever comes through the door. I have walked away from dealers, where I have told them I want to buy a car, no add on etc and then out trots the "manager" to show his staff how it is done, after I have agreed a price. If I wanted, gap insurance, paint protection or any of the myriad financial addon's I would ask and I certainly do not have time to spend hours waiting for the finance manager, I pay cash, the insurance manager, we are sorted etc, to see me. A good independent will have 99% of what the dealer offers at a fraction of the price and as for parts, many aftermarket parts are exactly the same as the OE in a different box.

Whilst viewing many topics in this section. It appears music is also a popular pastime amongst the membership. I'm now with A plan which I'm pleased with. Saying that since i got insured October time, the car has never see a public road. So I'm insured fully comp, and taking fire and theft.

I always remember a story a good friend of mine who was Master Tech at BMW about a car that had engine issues, the customer 'a woman' insisted on speaking to the technician personally, so when the service advisor brought her into the workshop to meet John, the service advisor already started to speak down to her and John said he had already noticed she had said a couple of things that clearly showed she had a understanding but the service advisor still kept waffling on until he said something along the lines of 'we don't expect you to understand' at this point she let rip and said 'shall I explain to you how this works' it came to light she was a engineer at somewhere like Ricardo engineering! John said he looked at the service advisor and just said don't assume everyone is a stupid as you next time! 🤣

Hi there. I owned a Westfield for about 4 years but sold it about 13years ago due to a divorce (lost the garage). I’m now back in the market and will start looking once lockdown is finished. I’ll have between £8k -£10k. If I need to save, I’ll wait. I’m based in Plymouth and wanted to say hi. I’m very excited to be getting one again after all this time. Attached it the picture of my old one just in case anyone has seen it. I look forward to the meets I am seeing in the north Devon area. Westfield V8 Nicely put together genuine SEight, registered in 1996 and currently on only its third owner. The car is on a Q plate and was built from a Kit with numerous genuine Westfield parts. Obviously its correctly registered as a Westfield. Finished in the traditional dark Blue with Yellow wings and Ducted Nose, with Yellow Chequeers on the bonnet Prior to purchase the car had stood for around 15 years in dry storage, so had suffered from some neglect, with all the rubber elements of the car deteriorating and getting really dirty! As part of the recommissioning the car has had wide track front suspension added, all the brakes have been refurbished and all suspension has been re-powder coated and rebushed. The chassis was originally powder coated and this has stood up well to storage, with no corrosion evident. The car was thoroughly inspected and no chassis cracks were found (and yes I do know where to look!) The car has a contoured dash with the usual compliment of functioning VDO instruments fed by a factory wiring harness. The seats are the comfortable highbacked variety in Blue to match the dash, with the carpets being Black (the blue fades over time). The steering wheel has a detachable boss for added security. Quick release harnesses are present to both driver and passenger seats. There are sidescreens and a hood with the car, both of which are in Black. The engine is the ubiquitous Rover V8, with a capacity of 3500. Its fed through a 4 Barrel Holley carb and dinner plate air filter. I suspect there is a modified cam shaft fitted but can’t confirm this….The electronic ignition has recently been replaced as have the leads, cap plugs etc. The car has a pair of side exit exhausts as you’d expect, and makes all the right noises. The gearbox is the LT77 from a Rover SD1, and this has had all the linkage bushes replaced. At the rear there is a Sierra 7” diff the ratio of which appears to be 3.62, and it has a viscous LSD. The refurbished wheels are shod in new 205 tyres, and there is a spare on the rear The Car has covered only 7500 Miles and has MOT until May 2021 – This can be retested to provide 12 months MOT on purchase. This car is a fabulous tourer. The torque is addictive with the car just swallowing the miles, climbing any hills in just about any gear, a great car to take on those weekends away. It drives great having had a geometry set up and just needs a new home with someone who will enjoy it. Ready to rock and could be sat in your garage ready to go when the sun is out and the temperatures go up a bit! Realistically priced at £13500. Call Paul on 07973 504785
