After a very frustrating wet winter, being furloughed allowed me to get started on the facelift on my Westie. Going for a full Martini livery. I am using vehicle wrap as I don't want this to be permanent. The FW poses a great many challenges with its curves and manipulating the substrate, especially on the rear. It doesn't help that NOTHING on these cars is symmetrical! lol I have designed and drawn on the files myself in Illustrator, currently working on a trick version of the Westfield Logo.12 points

My cynical son's reply: It occurred to me that the synthetic virus and selective cure part was straight out of a novel, but the exploitation of the West's financial parlous state was credible. Luckily, said son is married to an Australian girl of Chinese heritage and her mother speaks mainly Cantonese, but also some Mandarin and Vietnamese. The mother's English is flaky though. My daughter in law also speaks (but does not read/write) Cantonese so I may have a head start when our Chinese Overlords arrive. The downside is that they live in Sydney.2 points

Oh good grief.... Personally, I think we should round up all the conspiracy nuts, line them up against the giant ice wall at the edge of the earth and get the penguin army to shoot them. (YES, I AM joking....)2 points

I am not organised enough to do a proper build thread, but will add photos to this thread bit by bit. This is what happens when you get to 60 - you look for something a bit different in retirement... Pics show independant front suspension (4 transverse leafs each side). The 'tub' is ash frame, skinned with steel (Fortunately this was done before I got it, as I would never have had the patience or skill) Bulkhead is marine ply - as original, self tap screws werent even invented then. The 4 wings are in a real state - badly repaired, and rusty - this will be a major challenge.2 points

Thanks guys. Here's to hoping the lock down doesn't last all summer... at least it gives me time to clean my garage. 🤞1 point

Apart from being about the same weight and size as the Westfield, this is about as far away from a performance car you can get - so no Westy content here! Fortunately I managed to collect this as a half completed restoration about a week before lockdown - the pic shows it in around 1988, just before restoration began! It will keep me busy for probably the best part of a year. Any guesses what it is, and age?1 point

Martin is right - its a 1938 BSA Scout (Yes they made 3 and 4 wheelers!) Quite a revolution in its day - its Front wheel drive, with cable brakes.... Dave - it might well have been clockwork, with a mighty 28BHP from its 1200cc sidevalve. It was sort of a poor mans MG in the day, but a project I am really getting into. Fortunately there is an excellent BSA club to give help, and source rare spares. Can post pics if anyone is interested on progress. Dave. The pic below is what I am aiming for.1 point

Yet more covidiocy. 05 apr 2020 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52174288 "Coronavirus: Man rescued from Pyrenees fined for lockdown breach" "A man has been rescued by helicopter from the Pyrenees after trying to walk from France to Spain to buy cheap cigarettes, reports say. Despite his ordeal, he was fined 135 euros ($146; £119) for breaking coronavirus lockdown rules. "We remind you once more. STAY AT HOME," the regional police tweeted." And he didn't get his cheap fags!1 point

You can just picture the 5G mast-burners trying to post images of their ‘victory’ then complaining they can’t get a signal.....1 point
