Out for a jolly with mum yesterday, nearly 5 hours 'in the saddle' and it was seriously hot, almost had to put the roof on (but only almost)! Sun cream essential š Cam definitely imagine the Westy would be even hotter with the tunnel heat warming your left leg! Same again today ā Stay safe and enjoy everyone šš6 points

I was a wet behind the ears fresh engineer having worked for about 9 months at Spax after finishing university (Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.) Little did I know that iād Quit 9 months later, do 2 other damper design jobs and then return 18 months later. And stay.. The Westfields back then all had Spax, up to about 1999-2000.1 point

Hi Robin, I maybe interested in coming along, I'll be in Stockport visiting my parents that weekend and I don't think we have anything planned. If so there will either be 2 or us or 4 of us. Can I let you know tomorrow please? Cheers, Kirk1 point

@Dicky 1105 My car started off with swept wings But they were a bit tatty and had several star cracks and other defects so I swapped them for cycle wings However, as you may be able to see in the photo that left a load of holes that needed to be filled in. What you can't see in the photo is that where the bolts and large washers had been clamping the wings to the body for over 20 years the fibreglass had deformed so that each hole was sitting in its own little dip. I filled the holes and dips with resin and gelcoat but I didn't do a good enough job of it really so in the end I covered them all up with some sidestripes. So just a word of caution if you end up doing this and your swept wings have been on the car for a long time as you may have more bodywork repairs to do than just filling the bolt holes. Make sure you give yourself a lot of time to do the job as I probably rushed it as I was time-constrained having a young family at the time. Also, I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but you may also need to fit lock stops to stop the cycle wings hitting the sides of the tub on full lock.1 point

First MOT today and first pass. On Sunday, I ran as course opening car on the Maharajah's Tour (a 70mile scenic tour around Oxfordshire finishing at a great little car show in the village of Stoke Row. The rest of my photos from the day were cr*p. I relied on my mobile phone but the lens was dirty and, in the bright sunshine, I could not check the images well enough.1 point

@Chris Broster - Bristol & Bath AO Perks indeed. I had the zetec. Went for a haircut everyone in the shop loved it, all came outside and had a look. Then went for a drive round the local area. Fantastic evening for it. Shame I'm now stuck in the office. Maybe one day I'll get my own I didn't take an images this time. Next time I'll be sure to take a few. The first few times I took a car out for a drive it was pictures galore. I'm wanting to take my boy out in it. Would love to see his face light up.1 point

We just need dave to get a set of carbon swept wings to give the ultimate in contradiction of modern vs classic, to go with the fw body, mad supercharged engine and led lights1 point
