TJ calling from Sorrento. Wife can't find proseco on tap so just buys by the bottle. With her inability to buy the Pompeii tickets her credit card has been stopped . Hope I am missed. Going to Pompeii tomorrow . Might find some of the main wscc staff there as statues

It is brilliant that you like the size of my engine and the noise I make out of my rear end Whilst compliments are flying about, I love Rita's photogenic British Racing Green sleek, highly polished lines and when Dave is behind, the roar and the sight of the front end approaching wheelie status is awesome!!

For those who have suggested the Scottish Highlands and/or Borders, how about making it late August (reduced midgies!) and tack on the Scottish Lowlands Mystery Navigation Run to the start or finish of your trip?! It’s on Saturday 24th August – 200 miles of twisty B-roads and single tracks, all south of Glasgow, starts at Happingdon Services on the M74 and finishes in Peebles, where there is a good variety of hotel and B&B accommodation and a couple of campsites. Detailed info of the run to follow soon.

Another fantastic day in the Peaks. Huge thank you to Julie and Glen, as always. Just got to Leak, when the sky did! Only fine misty rain, but stopped for much needed fuel and stuck the hood up for the rest of the trip home. Still feeling full from the carvary now. Let alone the cake stop. I do find it funny though how Glen is greeted like both a long lost friend and trouble maker at every cake stop and nearly every pub we visit!

WESTFIELD the best kind of car to own and here is proof. One of the clubs highest mileage touring car next to the winner of the Speed Series car, both on a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive out, what other kind of car do you need to own to fulfill all of your hobbies. Meeting at Matlock were Howard, Martyn and Sue, Andrew, Trevor, Bill, Dave, Nigel and us, making 8 cars in the hot sun with everyone melting it was that warm. The super dooper Vauxhall red top at 240 bhp. We had a train to 'catch', well the camera lens did, so we nipped a couple of miles down the road to watch it arrive. That's what I tell you lot, really I just wanted the cars lined up for a photograph. It's coming, it is still in steam at this point As it approaches the station the steam is turned off and the air is diverted away from the chuff box (I think, please correct me if I got it wrong), resulting in some of the good old fashioned black stuff. For £130 you can spend 1 hour preparing the steam engine and then driving it, just saying Glen, Christmas is coming you know. Nigel crossed the line and went for petrol Next we sampled some lovely autumn sun shining through the bronzed trees to go past the pub, and into the really scenic part of the Peak District. Up there it is a mecca for all kinds of hobbies, walking, climbing, cycling and taking in the views, so it is a slow go. I tried keep us going at a pace that does not frustrate but is slow enough to take in your surroundings and be safe when we come across rogue sheep (2 of them actually) and dog walkers. The loop comes straight back to the pub where lunch was booked for 1pm. We parked at the pub, with it's lovely views over the Hope Valley I was minding my own business, taking a panorama shot, and these little sods just can't resist can they? they are like big kids and have to dive bomb the photo The grey bit in the middle is Trevor, running in front of the lens, and it has also made my camera turn the photo 90 degrees??? Weird, anyway, he is already in the dog house for the Stoneleigh comments on my other thread, so I guess as you can't be any more 'in the dog house' than you already are, you may as well be naughty Mr Naughty Martyn was ready for throttling his car, literary. Shall we say, it has run better. We made our way into the pub and to the carvery We tried to go to Chatsworth Farm Shop Cafe for a posh cake, but it was rather busy and people were queuing, so we went in a homeward direction to the Whitworth Centre and it did not disappoint. We even sat outside it was that warm. Lemon Fudge Cake and Victoria Sponge Cake, we also got a free slice of carrot cake, no argument there. Andrew with cake. With our big belly's full to the brim we headed off home for a lie down, burp, excuse me. So another successful day of driving, eating and viewing some lovely scenery. Not the fastest day as everyone else had decided to do the same, but can you blame them? I am not biased, much, but one last photo, I couldn't resist and he deserves it. Thank you all for coming, I hope to see you in Ashbourne next week and fingers crossed for more of this weather.

Trains booked £166 on standard fare

I got mine from mcgill motorsport. I ordered their own brand stainless and teflon 1/2 x 1/2 right hand thread and went for the sleeve to bring the rod end down to 7/16 to match the bolts/long studs used on my car. Thought about using 7/16 × 1/2 to avoid using the sleeve, but in the end I decided to stay with the original specification. Count threads or measure really carefully when you swap them, and you'll get close to keeping the geo setup consistent, but you may want to get it re-set up commercially to be sure. Gary

Despite getting black flagged on the sighting laps for being to noisy even at half revs ,Drive by noise testing is nothing like static as my car passed Castle Coombe and Llandow .luckily adding the second silencer did the trick.Great day with mostly curtious driving standards.Met some nice people and track is awesome it was good to experience the full Grand Prix circuit. I have a gearbox issue to sort out during the winter but definately game for some more track days next year.

Great day today. Was a bit congested and a number of red flags in the morning sessions but there was loads of space on track in the afternoon. Good to meet everyone who attended today.

Perfect weather and a really good weekend with a class win and PB at the BARC sprint on Saturday and a 'lads day' with my Son and a friend (mainly) in the MX-5. As you say, it was a bit busy with a wide speed range of vehicle which made it tricky for my Son's friend's first ever track day, but he did well and enjoyed himself. Pity it's the finale.... Hope to see you at another event and maybe get a proper run together in the Westy's!

Yes indeed. Just had mine spend a day with the Zed Shed in Helens for that very reason, Vanos rebuild and some cooling parts! No idea what mine and the OPs car is worth, but well below the average on here. Although its remarkable how fast prices fall in the first few years they do carry on falling for the next decade! I've renewed my Westy insurance and break down cover with A plan today. They assured me that even if we do leave the EU before we travel in May that all insurance policy's and breakdown cover taken out before we leave the EU will be honoured.

Ooo, snap. I have an 01 x-plate 330ci sport myself, 5 sp manual, just rolled over to 158k this weekend. Got into BMW sort of by mistake, having unexpectedly written off my car I did a search for cars within 20miles and under a grand, discounted anything super boring, and ended up with a E36 316 compact. Fairly gutless due to the 1.6l but an absolute hoot to drive and with the ditch finder it came with on the rear would still do the rwd thing a treat. Roll on three years, sold the E36 on to a mate and bought the E46 as I was doing more road miles and wanted a few more creature comforts, had that three years nearly now, maintained on a pretty much 'gets all its needs' basis and as yet no plans to replace it. MPG averages 28 long term on mixed driving in 20min urban commute, but will do 38 on a motorway run if not much more. Yet to fit a towbar to is as the westfield has been off the road and I can pull in odd favours to more the trailer when I need to but other than the fitting cost I see no reason not to. I would love to fit a ATB diff to it, but while I would get the enjoyment, I just cant justify the cost for what is mainly just a cheap daily motorway machine. Daniel

It's too easy to focus on the turbo and ignore the Clear setup, Ashcroft ATB, Accusump, front splitter and so forth. It's a well thought out bit of kit that also has a turbo, rather than just a Mazda SDV with a turbo.

Hi MIG and Welcome. The Derby and Notts. area group meet at Clock Warehouse (Pub) at Shardlow (DE72 2GL) on the first Thursday of every month. Well, .. .. what can I say.. The weather could not have been better. Clear blue sky for most of the day.. apart from what looked like fog rolling across the track at turn one now and again… which in fact was tyre smoke from a British drift championship event being held in the car park. Luckily the wind was blowing in the right direction, so the paddock remained smoke free! The day was fully booked, which wasn't too bad, but there was a problem with a couple of "experience" outfits. There were some fast cars, mostly being driven very slowly, combined with some fast cars being driven quite quickly. The Ferrari was pretty ballistic down the straight, but I'm not convinced he was much quicker than us in the twisty bits. Anyway, after we realised we weren't going to see much in the way of clear laps, it was actually fun cutting through the traffic.. as I said, a bit like a Friday on the M25. There were four cars in our group. Three Westys and Steve H's Pug 106. Steve and Matt Nossiter, newly crowned 2018 750mc Club Enduro champions btw! were giving the Pug a bit of a test before it takes part in the Birket relay race next weekend. Plans for that sadly had to be changed, when the mighty supercharged Pug ventilated it's crank case. One cod rod tried to escape! Mike Whitworth was next to retire early, but his car was fine.. he however suffered a persistent headache, possibly not being made any better by the persistent noise and tyre smoke from the drifters. Hope you're feeling better today Michael. My car didn't escape fault free.. My son Pete had to suffer the tow of shame after the throttle cable snapped. Luckily I had a spare, so 5 minute job, and we were back in play. Pete and Stoney (Red shed) had a few good chases, so will get some vids sorted out later. I think, due to the exceptional weather on the day, it was given a big thumbs up. Had it been wet and miserable, we might have given up by lunchtime! So that's Rockingham. RIP.

Oh, and even better than the brilliant scenery of the Peak District, the sound of Andrew's V8, as I followed it. If I ever do scratch the V8 urge, I think that sound has convinced me to abandon the habits of a lifetime, and forget fuel injection, just go for a chuffing big carb and lumpy cam.
