POSTPONED DUE TO RAIN FORECAST Shall we? shall we go for a run around the Peak District? How about we don't invite any cows or any buzzards? Now there's a good idea. Meet at Sainsburys, Matlock, DE4 3SP, 10.30am for a scenic trip around the Peak District. The usual rules apply, if it's chucking it down, stop in bed and if it's cold, wrap up warm. Try not to wear the same t-shirt as anyone else , shorts are allowed but I am not sure about the carpet slippers , only if it's your big birthday can you wear old ladies frocks I will be inviting my secret hot water bottle and blanket, but you are not allowed to photograph it, them's the rules.1 point

Oil pressure warning? If so there will be a switch likely on the block you could buzz too (although this should be on with ignition but engine not running if it’s working)1 point

@IanK (Bagpuss) well I tried but to no avail. So Glen has been busy repairing it today and we will wait for the next sale. Thanks for the info on Andy's spare, but you know what Glen is, he wants new, he wants a matching pair and nothing less will do. 'Yes dear' is a good answer from me at this time1 point

My wife is always telling me to wear a helmet which I do a lot of the time but on the odd 6 mile commute to work whilst it has been sunny I havent. If I'm going on a dual carriageway or motorway I always do and I make my son wear one wherever we are going. I did get a rather large bee trapped between the top of my sunglasses and the fold of my woolly hat the other week though which wasnt very pleasant and scared me a bit as it was buzzing around in my left eyebrow. Thank heavens I managed to get it off. After the stories above, I think I'm going to take everyones advice (including my wifes, I know I know) and wear mine all the time.1 point

To be fair I missed it out and then edited to say red. I obviously wasn't quick enough. I may well part out eventually if people express an interest in the bigger parts but a sale of the full set is my preference.1 point

Entirely coincidental, but also how nicely does the “stripe” formed in the half hood by the easy-outs match the stripe on the bodywork! I still worry ever so slightly about how dense the nose grill is, but it looks fantastic!1 point

I wear Wiley X SG-1 goggles on the road as I like the wind in what's left of my hair. I think I'd find my full-face helmet would be too claustrophobic in traffic in a car. Never had that problem on motorbikes though. I guess being strapped into a car limits your movement. I have been thinking about an open face helmet with a visor though. That would give facial protection, be less claustrophobic and help reduce wind noise. Always meant to get some custom made ear plugs but not got around to it. On the bird-strike stories - years ago on my Moto Guzzi I was riding past some hedges close to the road at, shall we say, a good rate when a blackbird flew out. I ducked but it was too late and the bird hit me square in the face. I was wearing an open face helmet and goggles instead of my usual full-face helmet, and the impact felt like a cricket ball fresh off the bat. Blood and guts all down the front of my jacket and across my face. Didn't stop as I was late for meeting up with friends but I found out later it had split my nostril. And that was just a blackbird. A pheasant or buzzard doesn't bear thinking about. Edit to add- it also loosened two teeth, so my not wearing a helmet is probably flying in the face of experience0 points
