Mind the midges! And Gilly the Gorilla (he comes in every bottle - he's the one who smacks you on your head, sh*ts in your mouth and steals your money)! We're taking the camper down to Mennock Pass for the weekend - with the peace and quiet and a map, I'll pencil out a route for the mystery nav run.2 points

Yes, I remember a comment about it. It was £15.00 to cross for us. well worth it though for the experience.2 points

So I did the event and am pleased to say it was amazing!!! The car held out brilliantly without any issues - although it's confirmed I do need to fit a swirl pot (any recommendations on the swirl pot and low pressure pump to go for on a 2.0 Zetec black top??), and was an absolute blast to drive. I got consistently quicker over the course of the evening, and barring one tank slapper on the chicane into the start finish straight, I kept it on the track and hit some great lines. Some of the equipment out there was crazy, including a bright orange Porsche 911 GT3 RS which was blisteringly quick, and lots of modified hot hatches that we just too quick (in the straights anyway!) to keep tabs on, but you'll be pleased to hear that the solitary Caterham out there I was able to run down and overtake :-) As I say, quicker machines out there (mine's pulling around 170 bhp in a more road focussed car) but I didn't see many of them having as much fun. And yes there were the mandatory kn*b heads on track with disregard for the safety briefing, overtaking where ever they wanted (including lunges down the inside as you turn in on the natural racing line) - but it was good to see a few of them beached in the sand, steam pouring from the engine bay! I've certainly got the bug for more now - looking at other amendments I can make to the car - wide track front with ARB, swirl pot, damper settings and air pressures to fettle - then more power.....!!!!!!!1 point

Hi from the Peak District, it is Shelsley Walsh this weekend but normal service will resume next weekend and you are welcome to join us. We will probably be meeting at 10.30 at Matlock Sainsburys on the Sunday, unless it rains. Julie1 point

Car can be viewed this weekend at Shelsley Walsh Event Well after much deliberation, the time has come to admit I have lost my mojo and as a result, the car can finally go up for sale. And I mean it this time! I did the trackday at Blyton last year and enjoyed myself, but the effort to get there is much greater than the pleasure I get from driving. Westfield sei wide circa 2004 with the following spec Carbon panels with the exception of the floor. Super light weight bodywork, with detachable rear arches all fitted such that it can be stripped off the car in less than 10 minutes. Safety Devices full cage. Grp drivers seat with bulkhead restraint, carbon low back passengers seat. Momo steering wheel. Aim Mycron gold LCD dash and data logger. Geartronics gear indicator. Bespoke dash panel. X16xe Vauxhall engine giving 214 bhp on nms rollers, Forged pistons, steel rods, head ported by Guy Croft, SBD cams, valve springs, followers verniers, Pace dry sump kit with bespoke high capacity tank SBD 4 throttle injection kit, with ITG filter. All fuel lines in aeroquip and aluminium tube. Sprint fuel tank and auxiliary track day tank. High capacity pump and filter Small alternator run from same belt as dry sump system, Ducted radiator (carbon), Helix 7.25 organic clutch with hydraulic operation Elite 5 speed sequential gearbox, 3.92 LSD diff recently rebuilt. Force racing wheels and kumho tyres Bespoke light weight wiring harness with mini fuses and relays. DTA P8 Pro ECU with traction and launch control, all wheels have speed sensors. Wunoff exhaust silencer on modified TLE manifold. Wilwood front brakes, antiroll bars at both ends. Protec double adjustable dampers all round. Quick rack. Car is Road legal, and will be sold with 12 months Mot. It's a reluctant sale, as I know once it's gone I will want another one just like it! As a guide, this car cost more than £20K to build……. Looking for £13,500. Contact Paul 07973 5047851 point

Welcome, and congratulations! Insurance. Firstly, it is VERY difficult to compare insurance quotes, there’s just too many variables normally. Without knowing the mileage limit and any additional cover/circumstances, it’s hard to say definitively on the quote you’ve been given. But on the face of it, for the typical circa 4000 mile a year policy, it sounds expensive. A Plan are a club sponsor and cover many of our members, they have a specialist Kit Car department at Thatcham, note they are now known as Cherished Vehicle Insurance Services. If you join the club, you will get an additional 10% discount off your premium. They are excellent to deal with too, many of us having several vehicles through them. In fact I’ve just had to put a claim through on the tin top, a month or two back. It couldn’t have gone smoother. Note as well as A Plan, you also get discounts from several others of our sponsors, such as Northampton Motorsport and Playskool.1 point
