Out yesterday in town when I saw an elderly lady with a hearing assist dog being very closely followed by a gypsy (a term I don’t use loosely) woman. I didn’t like the look of the gypsy’s attention so I turned and got in behind them. The gypsy woman threw some dust over the top of the elderly woman, making her stop. At that point, the gypsy pulled a device out of her bag and held it against the elderly woman’s handbag - obviously a crude RFID reader trying to steal her card info. In what was probably with hindsight the wrong thing to do, I jumped forward and grabbed the RFID reader out of her hand. Both women understandably cried out, for different reasons. The gypsy then tried to assault me to get it back, but even at my advanced age, I fended her off and started shouting for the police, which made her scurry off like a rat. After I explained what had happened to the elderly woman and encouraged her to buy a RFID blocking purse, I went to the police station, made a statement and gave them the device. No idea how much info the thieving c*** had in it. Last night I ordered a new RFID blocking wallet. I suggest you do the same if you already haven’t done so. You can’t trust banks to refund your money these days.

I have passed this story to my daughter who works for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Obviously this is not directly connected with deafness, but many of their dog recipients are also handicapped in more than one way, and will be seen as vulnerable by these people. Well done Scott.

May be I will replace the radiator next year with all the coolant hoses, but for now, a refresh to go with the new engine. ;-)

We have thoroughly enjoyed it too, Chris, thank you. What with Geoffrey, Clark and the France one, there are some really good holiday accounts with great photo's kicking around. There will be the Le Mans photo's to look forward to next.

Hello all, I've picked up a 2012 CBR1000RR (SC59) engine that I intend to stick in my Westy. I'm not exactly sure which years parts cross over, and I think some bits have been the same for longer than others, but from what I can work out some items from 2008 onwards will be compatible. I've got an AB sump already but other than that I need everything else. Tentative list is as follows: - Full set of sensors - Airbox with injectors - Throttle bodies with injectors and TPS - Stator - Fuel pump - Weld-in fuel pump tank adaptor - Manifold to fit front engined RWD install (round exhaust ports) - Wiring loom - ECU (HRC would be ideal but would consider standard) - Reg / rec - Sprocket / prop adaptor and crank bolt - Ignition coils - Power commander - 3.54 English diff or CWP set I'm in no rush for all of these items, engine will be going in over winter, but would rather help clear out your garage / shed if you have anything going spare than risk eBay Cheers, Adam

A big pat on the back to you Scott, too many people just walk on by. As said those who pray on the elderly or vulnerable don't in my opinion deserve a place in our society. It would be interesting to know what info the police were to find on the device.

Evening all - good news below https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/road-vehicles-improving-air-quality-and-safety Kit car emissions testing Q16: Do you agree with requiring kit cars submitted for IVA to meet the latest MOT standards, thereby removing the rule that kit cars are IVA tested to MOT standards according to engine age? Q16 Number of responses Yes 70 No 1343* No answer 86 * plus 840 additional respondents Emissions approval - kit cars (Basic IVA) (Q16) 3.12 In response to the strong opposition to our proposal to tighten the rules for kit car emissions, the Department will not implement this aspect of the proposal. 3.13 We have taken this decision after reflecting on the evidence and noting that kit cars are a small proportion of the fleet, cover a low annual mileage and are rarely used in town centres where air quality issues exist. 3.14 Therefore kit cars submitted for IVA will continue to be subject to an MOT-style emissions test, using the current criteria in the IVA manual around engine build/first use date.

The first passenger in my car after the build was my mate Mick. At the time Mick had recently been diagnosed with MND (or ALS as the Mercans call it) - but I call it 'worst nightmare syndrome'. Anyway - I took Mick out for a run and at the end he looked up at me and said - "thanks Chris, it's been a while since I've had something to smile about - and that really did make me smile" I was well chuffed that he'd enjoyed the blat and he said "so, what do you call her?" I replied "I've not got a name - any suggestions?" - to which he pondered a bit and replied "Scarlet". So, Scarlet it is - in memory of my great mate Mick who sadly passed away just before Xmas last year.

Probably a bit boring but I call mine "the Westfield" because it is the Westfield.

On my this one mate you don’t know what your talking about. Having both on my car the difference is unreal. The standard S2000 in a wessie is 225 at best so it’s more like 20-25 bhp increase and a 25 ft-lb mid range increase. The noise is awesome, the throttle response is better and the power increase is vastly noticeable. You like your car as it is, that’s fine but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
