  1. Well today I went for my B+E trailer test having had a 2 hour assessment by an instructor earlier on in the month he had said that I should be fine with going straight for a test and he only recommended another hour lesson to get familiar with the test routes as I am from "out of town", this was quite refreshing to hear, instead of someone trying to sell me however many hours of possibly unnecessary lessons. So, woke up this morning with knots in my stomach from the thought of my driving style being examined and scrutinised.. I've been driving 13 years now so have picked up plenty of bad habits and also have driven pretty much only automatic cars for the last 4 years, so going to do my trailer test in a manual was a little daunting. Started off by carrying the very simple show me/tell me questions (show me how you would test the horn) and then out to the carpark to carryout the manoeuvres; reverse into a bay, uncouple and recouple then a 60 or so minute drive through the city, all the time trying to gauge the examiner for any clues on how I was doing.... I started to get quite worried after 50 or so minutes when he still hadn't opened his clipboard! Back to the test station and a big sigh of relief when I was told that I had passed with no minors. Yipee. one step closer to the goal of going racing next year. All I need now is a nice big covered trailer with a little workbench in.. best get christmas shopping for myself!

  2. Got the harnesses fitted today. So very comfortable and so easy to adjust. Feel very secure and in my own opinion it was money well spent. Really happy with them.

  5. Having just been the Stage Commander there for the recent Roger Albert Clark Rally, I can't emphasise enough what a lovely, historic place Shelsley Walsh is. It was rather slippery a couple of weeks ago with falling leaves and autumn temperatures! Please count me in for some runs up the hill in my Eleven. Simon

  9. Thanks. I just gave him a call. Very helpful and a great sounding box but it's not for me as I would be pushing the limits of the power handling.

  11. Had to chat to Westfield this week. Seems my manual won't be ready till around Christmas time. I'm trying to pick off jobs I can have a go at and won't be too upset when I have to un wind them and do them again. I thought getting the pedals in should be pretty easy. After running through four boxes and a bunch of bags of bolts, I couldn't find the right ones. turns out they were never packed! Fortunately, Ian at Westfield spotted this pretty quickly, when asked, and sent them out overnight. So... my first job for the weekend will be to get the fly-by-wire accelerator pedal in. loving doing the jobs that make it actually look a little more like a car and a little less like a kids climbing frame on its side.... ;-)

  12. I have set the route today, and it is quite unusual, so I thought I had better go and have a little look at it first. Mainly to check for the local bovine population, or rather their droppings, I am happy to report a negative on that front. While it was quiet, I took the opportunity to take some photographs, I never seem to get them, hanging on to an overactive teenage Westfield. This is the road to the area where we are going And this is the interim destination, the road is ONE WAY at the top. But let's not forget our final destination is the ice cream farm, they have now made their new seasonal flavours, oooh are you ready, Baileys with chocolate sauce swirls and Christmas Pudding Ice Cream. I am hoping that they sell one of those double cones, so I don't have to choose. Can't wait for Sunday

  13. we are just forming it as an idea expect around £120 for the day and £38 for the evening but please don't hold me to that. as we are working out the total cost of the event and we are making a costing calculator so as the financial people say "prices may go up or down". the more we have the cheaper the event will be which is the reason for asking the question. think we are looking for 70 cars and 80 diners cheers John

  14. Yep, the parts Dept. looked clean & tidy too, very much improved since my last visit, give them a try for any bits you need, you just might be surprised. By the way People of the Essex Mob, I'm still working at Bradwell and can pop into the Westfield shop any Friday to bring gear down for Sunday Evening, Let me know if you are going to order anything and I'll collect it for you, just cos I'm a nice guy !
