  1. Not a long drive for us in Herefordshire, it's one of our favourites for a quick spin on a good day, but it does mean venturing into Shropshire. Single track road across the common to the top of the hill, big ruts/holes/puddles in the [sort of] main car park, but lots of other places to tuck into. There are old quarry workings and quarry buildings as well as the NATS radar domes. A few good walks around the common and on to the summit of the hill, cracking views all round on a good day. The sky gets dark enough for star/Milky Way photography on a clear night and if you like a challenge it's usually the first place to get snow in the winter. Gary

  7. Yes if racing then a different need. You are right it can be wet at Pembrey more often than not. Try wrapping sheep round your dry tyres. I only have sprinting experience but Alan Mugglestone has tested some tyres and ended up with Nankangs and rates them highly on his Raw Fulcrum. Though I have heard other say that they are no good. Worth talking to him as he is a professional in the motorsport world, but he may charge you for his advice.

  8. Yes you are right Adam, but no one ever wants to share that info! Just found this on the Nankang website "TREADWEAR index: 180 (street) is the only compound now produced by the factory"

  10. Well what a lovely morning, so I just had to fire up the XI and go for a quick run. Put some more miles on the clock as part of my running in. 240 miles now, towards the first 500 at which point I can do an oil and filter change, and then see how it revs on full throttle. The other day, I remade the joints on the unions which screw into the fuel pump, which the in and out fuel pipes connect to, as I had a slight weep from one or both of them. Success, no sign of a weep now.

  13. Thanks for all the hard work crunching numbers and gravel traps this year Tigger! As has been said, couldn't have a championship without dedicated members such as yourself Congratulations to John on securing his second over all championship! 0.06s on the penultimate run of the year, fair play for getting the job done under that pressure, but what a git! Happy it has gone to someone who has scored decent points by beating many of their own target times from previous seasons. Congratulations to AdamR for securing the mini championship again, this time in a relatively standard car and at best on 1B tyres, sometimes on 1A 'Eco' tyres, and with the minimum of stress possible! A brave man to trust me with his car at an event where points were required. Just be grateful those corner markers are polystyrene, not the concrete I thought they were for the first few events when I started sprinting! As for Steve, well, I am quite sure he has put in more hours and effort rectifying bad luck than any other competitor in the championship! To get the car turned around at such short notice and with such major repairs (new engines, new front end of a chassis (!!!!)) but still have the enthusiasm and energy to get out and keep chasing and beating target times...blimey. True grit and determination! Congratulations to all the class winners but also to those who beat PBs, achieved personal goals or just generally had fun and enjoyed the Speed Series! It's genuinely hard to imagine competing in sprints and hillclimbs being as much fun if I wasn't part of the WSCC. If people weren't as friendly and helpful I'd have probably b*******ed off and bought a single seater by now, the cheating way to go faster!
