Can I say something weird? You need a propper race Wet tyre to get better performance in wet than a Toyo 888 in wet or damp condition... And @AdamR and myself, prooved that last season with our wet performance with semislick over than people trying to swap to road tyres, R1R's and some ones with propper wets... For a road tyre being more effective on water over a Toyo 888, the ammount of water has to be that hughe that you shouldn't be on track... What i mean is that probably, you will put something with more groove on it, and you may feel dissapointed as grip in wet/damp will not improve, and probably will decrease.2 points

That's less than I do in a year - I expect mine to have 50k on it by 2025 (but it will be on it's fifth engine, 3rd set of wheels, fourth set of shocks, third exhaust, second seats, third gearbox, eighth ECU, third uprights, second set of body panels etc by then!) Trigger, where's the broom1 point

Hi @JP5000, I have posted on your intro thread some options for meeting up sooner rather than later if you are interested. Andy is right that most of the club meets at this time of year do not attract many Westfields, generally tintops all round. However, some of us do continue to get out and about at weekends throughout the winter months so keep checking the out and about section on here for anything you may want to attend as you are welcome to join us even if it is in a tintop etc.1 point

No such thing I think it depends how much 'slower' you are prepared to be as to how many sets of wheels / tyres you need. For me, a set of road tyres will cope with any conditions, are more fun, cheaper, and won't be much slower (certainly for track days - competition use debatable, as a few seconds a lap is a big chunk) than the 'optimal' tyre for any circumstance. Saves me a lot of hassle and brain power!1 point

Dave, But only when a fire extinguisher is required. At the moment sprint and hill climb cars do not require a fire extinguisher, it is only recommended in the blue book (10.1.14. Fire Extinguishers – K.3.1.2(a) recommended for discharge into cockpit and engine compartment.). The changes do not introduce a mandatory requirement for sprints and hill climb cars. So we need to keep an eye on Section S for any future inclusion.1 point

Yes you would be more than welcome, but don't expect to see many Westfield's this time of year especially if it's wet. Not sure if I will be there but just keep your eye on here closer to the time. Andy1 point

Welcome. Even though you won’t see so many Westfields at this time of year, it’s still worth getting along to your local meet for a chat, and at least a virtual tyre kick!1 point

I too nearly ventured down the dark side. My mind was made up after comparing (almost) like with like and realising what good value the Westfield was. Love my car and saved a fair chunk of money that was going to be thrown at a Caterham.... oh,1 point

Amazing car for weekend blasts, proper bargain! It was a passenger ride in a V8 Westfield that made up my mind to get a Westfield not a Caterham, definitely a ride I'll not forget in a hurry. Good luck with the sale, whoever snaps this up is going to be a really lucky b*******!1 point

Does weight not go out of the window after about 70mph Terry? Aerodynamic drag takes over, and an aeroscreened Westy with 200bhp irrespective if it's Bike power or lardy car power will top out at the same max velocity? Am I right or talking b*****k?1 point

Might only be twenty as Steve decided to see if westies could fly, he hit a bank at Debden Sprint and according to the Marshal he flew 50 feet backwards and ended in a ditch! Car is now at Siltech to see if the can put a new front end on before the weekend. However not sure how much engine damage has been done as he cracked the sump as well, might be the end of our ebay bargain!. He never does things by halves!0 points
