I say yellow. Who cares if it's exact? Will match all the panels i 'adjusted' for you. Or do something really different, like black with yellow stripes, or bright green. Another useful forum contribution from BCF. Drops mic.2 points

I would echo all the comments made so don't panic, I'm sure all these issues can be dealt with easily. Your details show your location as Ripley, if this is Derbyshire you could come to the Derby and Notts meet on Thursday 6th April at the Clock in Shardlow to chat to members and we can look over the car as the weather is looking good. Hopefully we can help you sort these niggles so that you can get out with us and Julie (Peak District AO) on our regular trips around the peaks2 points

Blimey Yanto, you must have kept your hands outside the bedclothes when you were a lad! I can barely make out the picture in his avatar, let alone make a diagnosis like that!2 points

Sorry about this, it usually happens at the beginning of each season whereby 2 drivers have exactly the same points. I'll have to do a manual fix it later today for you Tiggs2 points

Great news! She made it! With Huge thanks to sparkymarts AKA Martin who lent me some doors. I really wouldn't have enjoyed the trip as much without them! The car ran great, was comfortable, and smooth enough with the dampers set to the softest setting. The only issues: Got very hot once after hitting standing traffic on the M4, had to pull over and turn it off to cool down. Have done some reading to attack thus. When the transmission is hot i get terrible juddering when i pull away in first. Even with plenty of revs. Any advice there id love to hear it. After a run and turning the car off, turning it back on it doesn't like to idle, just slowly lowers revs until cutting out. All can be addressed I'm sure, I'm just happy we are back in one piece!2 points

Hello all, I have just joined the WSCC and the forum this morning, I am on a journey of discovery. I want to put a turbocharged MX5 powertrain that I already have, into a lightweight seven type car. I am aiming for a predominately track car, but I do want it to be road legal for the odd sunny weekend blast - and my for my kids to drive at the Under 17 car club, but that is another story. My current thoughts are a Mazda SDV base would be ideal. It is perhaps unpopular round here to say I want to buy a pre-built one rather than build myself. However, I will have enough work to do fitting my powertrain in as it is. So, just wanted to say hi, and I am now off to start reading. The main question I still have is to do with 1.6 vs. 1.8 MX5 engines. The Westfield website, and some googling I have done, suggests that only the 1.6 and 5 speed gearbox can work. I have the 1.8, and six-speed, but I am puzzled as to what the problem may be - the engine/box mounts and physical sizing is the same as far as I am concerned. Thanks, Martin. ps: as we all like pictures, here is the car and engine bay that has rusted away before my eyes, and made all this possible. The engine currently makes 250 wheel HP, so around 280 flywheel, so should be good fun in a Westfield. I am only a set of conrods, forged pistons and an oil-pump away from 400 bhp too.1 point

So I've got my nice new fuel tank, and my nice new fuel pump (shown before the tank was modified) and it looks lovely in the back of the car... However, now I've got it all connected up, I have discovered that the integrated sender on the pump (VDO) shows as full on my gauge (VDO) when empty, and I'm assuming empty when full. So, I was just wondering if 1) there is something cheap off the shelf that can be used to correct this, or 2) i could use a spare Arduino and make my own converter? I've seen the Spidya website, but the prices put me off, and I've seen this gadget which may work if the range matches my sender/gauge, but my inner tinkerer tells me to utilise the Arduino for it... @Kit Car Electronics would probably agree1 point

If it's not urgent Gary we could have a chat next week. I'm not an expert but work in the field and can walk 20 yards down the office and speak to someone who is.1 point

Thanks for the replies gents, very helpful. I want to keep the 6 speed as it is a much stronger box than the 5 speed, and the turbo engines can easily put out gearbox ending torque. Ratio wise, my understanding is that 6th in the 6-speed is the same ratio as 5th in the 5 speed, could be wrong though. Dommo, your blog got me here in the first place. It has been a great read, and made me think about Westfield all over again. I remember aching desire for an SEiGHT back in the 90s, but had not really considered Westfield again until recently. Gary, I have been reading both your build threads over lunch - very enlightening and thanks for sharing. Best start browsing the classifieds now, and see if I can find a nice, already built Mazda SDV car out there. Martin.1 point

Either black - because red would be weird and a yellow wouldn't match - or pink with Mr Blobby stickers. Job done.1 point

There you go Martin, now updated, here's a link. However, I must say that for some reason, the "Manual" update never seems to come out the same as the Automated version ..... can't work out why. Have a look at the link above to see what I mean ............. I think it's a technical glitch ........ who knows1 point

There's a couple arriving Thursday evening Adam, but I'm opting for an early start.. If I'm going to have the usual pre event sleepless night, I'd rather be sleepless in my own bed.1 point

I can vouch for this! Although @Julie (One Careful Lady Owner) - Peak District AO did once fail to recognise my Westie coz it was cleaned & polished!1 point

Never, ever will I judge the cleanliness of a car. Get it out of the garage and go have some fun, if it get's dirty along the way then so what. If it sits pristine clean in the garage, well then you have kinda missed the point of having a car. Rant over, look forward to meeting you Mr Yanto, hope the next car is not a 5 litre, V8, I would feel a bit inferior next to that1 point
