  6. The voltage is high.. The kick is similar to holding a leaky HT lead. The kick is usually once every second or so. You can hold one if your determined in front of mates and almost hold a normal smile. Then place your spare hand on mate and pass on the current Not recommended if you have a pace maker.

  8. I think you get what you pay for with nitrile gloves, I've had a box of the euro car parts ones that I tend to rip putting on, others that I've paid over a tenner for have been awesome and I've been able to take off and reuse.

  9. Music to my ears!! Seriously though, much as I like the cycle wing look too, and if you've grown tired of a car you originally built on clams and want to swap, that's one thing. But it always puzzled me when people bought lovely classic looking clam shell cars second hand, only to immediately start ripping them off and converting to cycle wings. Because of how the clams attach, it's almost impossible not to end up with a tub either in need of replacement, or a respray. Or you end up with randomly placed big stickers, trying to cover the holes... Such a shame, when there are usually plenty of s/h cycle wing cars to go at, if that's what floats your boat. Long live the clamshell!

  10. Hi all.I joined the club at the beginning of December 2016 and a couple of weeks later bought my car.I had been looking for about four months before I found it and am well chuffed. It's a 1997 seiw that I was told was factory built with a 1600 cvh motor.one of the eight previous owners has changed it a bit.it now has a blacktop zetec on weber throttle bodies, a straight cut gearbox (not as noisy as I thought it would be) and an lsd.the brakes are ventilated front discs with 4 piston calipers ,rears are sliding caliper discs.it's brilliant.it has a stack instrument set with sensors everywhere.there is still one indicator light on the dash that I don't know what it does, but it hasn't come on yet so all is good..I haven't found any major issues yet and have just been doing fluid changes etc .and rapidly accelerating up to the speed limit.the tyres are pretty new goodyear efficient grips (195/50) and feel really good while the roads are cold and damp.so all in all its fantastic- my wife even likes being in it in January .I will try to put up some picures, ando am looking forward to the summer.

  11. The reason I went for it is because it didn't have cycle wingsI. Hopefully by weekend I should have the other engine mounting bracket I need and a stainless manifold.

  12. Lovely looking car! And great to read it's having a proper engine put back in. Make sure those clamshells remain in place as well! Allan

  19. I was so looking forward to today and meeting lots of new people, and the day did not disappoint. It started off with Big Andy and Debbie calling for us at our house, and they came with Trevor from Worksop in his Tiger. 3 cars went to Buxton and Martyn and Sue, car 4, soon arrived. IanK gave me a quick call to say the main group were having sat nav problems and they were on their way. It's OK we were only getting a bit wet in the drizzly but persistent rain. They all soon arrived, shame it was at the same time as a group of ramblers. Right, time to find the second Trevor, the organiser, and change everything. The route was altered to go through Chatsworth the opposite way and the lunch stop was changed. 'You had better lead then Julie' Trevor said, as he handed me a walkie talkie headset. It was great, I could talk to Trevor near the back of the group as we went along, so we all stayed together and nobody got lost. Lunch was at the Travellers Rest, Bradwell In total there were 12 kit cars, a Porsche, a MX5 and a VX220. Thats a lot of new people, which meant a lot of talking, making it later than expected, so the group split up from here at 3pm. It did finally stop raining, when we were about 20 minutes from home, and it was colder than yesterday, so under the circumstances that's not a bad turn out for January. It must be something in the water in the North West because the Wirral/North Wales group had 9 Westfield's out today too, that is just brilliant, don't you think? Thanks to everyone for coming today, extra to Martyn and Sue, Big Andy and Debbie, there was IanK, Rickyboy100 and Phil, (who goes as Lollydox?0 from our club.
