You know the drill by now, we met at The Wheatsheaf, we, being Trevor, Martyn and Sue, and us. Big Andy? no, he has had his car in bits this week and has run out of M6 bolts to put it back together, la,la,la,la on the muppet show tonight After bacon butties and pots of tea we set off for a slide around the roads north of Buxton. These are possibly the most twisty roads in the Peak District and they are bags of fun to drive. The twists are endless and go on turning right up to the cafe and beyond. Grinning faces soon arrived at the Peak View Tea Rooms where we took in the views before heading inside. The peak in the view is The Cheshire Matterhorn, or officially it is called Shutingsloe and is a good hill to climb if you like that sort of thing, like me. This cafe is reputed to be the highest in England at 1670 ft above sea level, it's very possibly true and I can't think of one higher. As we were still full from breakfast we just had a hot chocolate each next to the second real fire of the day. Martyn took this opportunity to tell us about his new teeth that he has installed as part of the upgrades that he has planned for his car next year. We soon headed back out for another slide around Buxton, past the closed Cat and Fiddle pub and straight into a 'closed road' sign. With no diversion signs in place we headed down towards Leek and cut across country. What a cracking idea that was, why didn't I plan for us to go that way? it is far more scenic than the way I had planned and only about 15 minutes longer. That landed us at our new destination, the medieval bar at The Bull i' Thorn. For fire number 3 of the day Martyn made a new friend and we tucked into a well earned Roast Beef dinner Sue had provided yummy biscuits to finish off the day with, thank you Sue. We were straight onto the big A515 and all scattered off home, actually in the light for once. I really don't think I can tempt anyone out next weekend because I think something else is happening, but if it is not raining we will be out in our car on Christmas Eve, although the car loses out to the bicycle on Christmas Day. Well the bike tracks will be empty Christmas Day and it would be a shame not to exploit that fact and Christmas cake travels well in a rucksack. Thank you all for coming today and Merry Christmas to everyone, hope to see you between Christmas and New Year.3 points

Don't pander his wishes @Julie (One Careful Lady Owner) - Peak District AO. He's teasing because he knows most other S2000's are currently owner disabled2 points

I know what you mean Chris, a tedious job but I finished it. Mind you, I've upped the limit on Adminstrators to 1,000 per day, seeing as everything we say is pure gold.2 points

We are planning to send out a questionairre in the near future to try and address some of these issues you raise!. Demographics of the WSCC membership, members time pressures ie speed series v family demands, holidays etc, etc, Favourite venues, Cost of entry, travelling and accommodation etc etc etc Cost of competing and being competitive and so on! We are trying to be a fully inclusive championship and we need new entrants as well as keeping our current group happy! We don't have all the answers but we will try and gather enough info from as many members as possible to make balanced and considered decisions that will improve enjoyment and satisfaction levels of the SS. So I took the dogs for a walk today and passed by a new housing development going up nearby on an old brownfield site, which is great overall. Or is it? Observe this artwork adorning the temporary construction fencing - looks charming, doesn't it? The sort of place you'd like to visit or maybe even live. But let's take a closer look, starting on the left. A happy young couple pushing a prom. Nothing unusual there. Apart from the teddy bear in the bottom of the pram, which begs a few questions: Why is the teddy bear not in the pram? Is the child in the pram being punished? Is there actually a child in the pram at all? Maybe these two happy people are actually using the pram to steal babies and the teddy to entice them and keep them quiet. Lots of questions, but I'm sure you'll agree it's very odd and suspicious. But I digress. Let's move on to the next bit of the image, a child on a swing: Why on Earth is this child on a swing five foot up in the air? What sick mind installed the swing that high up? More importantly, how did the child get up there? Who put the child up there and then left it there? Is the child about to jump into the pram as it passes by? This is very disturbing in my books. But I digress. Time to consider the lovely dog: That's definitely not how dogs walk or run. Is it trying to evolve into a higher life form by walking on its hind legs? Is there something dangerous in the pavement the dog is trying to avoid? Or is the dog evil, rabid, or about to attack? We soon get our answer: It's attacking the cyclist! Bad dog! Naughty dog! It's going to jump the cyclist from behind! What could possibly drive a dog to do this horrible thing in such a nice new neighbourhood? Because the cyclist is about to run over some ducklings! Look at him go - head down, pedalling like mad straight at them. What a scumbag! And what are Momma and Papa Duck doing while their children are about to be flattened? Just staring at each other - stupid quackers The dog will probably eat the soon-to-be duckling pancakes after he rips the cyclist's throat out. On reflection, I've decided that if this is the sort of thing that will be going on, then this new neighbourhood is someplace I should probably avoid.1 point

Guys, DONT PANIC.... i'm not standing down, giving in or have any intention of standing down for the any "instalment of a panda goes to Blyton" but I think it would be good to have a deputy so if that someone else is in the know... also it might allow two books in one year like "panda goes to knockhill" etc... catch my drift so if someone fancies being a panda pal then please let me know. cheers Panda1 point

Do you think you could post some more detailed photos of the bracing (that's of the chassis, not the up-and-over Westfield door). I am also concerned that rolling up the power lead to the overhead light will cause an electromagnetic force that will slow down the clock and you may miss the first round of the series.1 point

What a Grand Day Out Gromit ! ! 19 'sevens' cruising around Dales from far and wide Thanks for sorting @Rickyboy100 , your route from Aysgarth to Muker was OK Started in thick heavy wet fog which cleared North of Grassington. Loads of crud on road. Adam & Myself (with Jonathan in tow) peeled off at Ribblehead for some sprightly X-rated Westie fun to Settle via Horton in Ribblesdale. We should do it all again in Summer?1 point

Target Times generate a great amount of comment and discussion because when it comes down to it they are very personal! In fact they are a bit like INCOME TAX not liked but a suitable alternative has so far not been found! Target Times should be considered in 2 parts 1) The Framework and Process 2) The Target Times themselves As far as the TT Framework is concerned it suits the SS very well as we have multiple classes and multiple venues. The big downside is it is now very complex to administrate and takes a great deal of time. This is time and effort that most competitors take for granted as the results usually appear pretty dame quick after each event! I will venture to suggest that with the lower number of competitors in 2016 WITHOUT the use of the Target Time Frameweork the SS may have ceased to operate! As for the actual Target Times themselves the the "holy grail" of only using class/venue records is fine as long as all classes and all venues are supported in equal measure to ensure we have a fair and acceptable graduation of times across each of the classes. This lack of graduation has become more marked in recent years as certain classes have become more popular than others resuling in some classes being much harder than others which across the competition DOES NOT tick the fair and equitable box? This situation has been proved by the fact that in the last three years the overall championship has been won by the same class twice and once by a car that many competitors felt was not technically compliant! The SSOT is asked on many occasions to look at the techical compliance of cars and if un-reasonable factors are found then the rules are amended to deal with the anomolies. I would venture to suggest that based on the same thinking and spirit of the SS the 2017 Target Times are possibly the FAIREST for all the classes and venues we could come up with! Hopefully you will see a fair graduation of times across all the classes, tyres and expert/novice driver groups! Yes in the persuit of fairness some "records" have been increased slightly which may if conditions allow be beaten either in 2017 or some other time in the future (whereas the regs for John Hoyle's engine has been changed permanently) We have removed "Records" that have stood un-challenged for 5 or more years and for 2017 the new event rule applies! We have softened Novice Times slightly again this year! We have added new venus where the New Event Rule applies for 2017! We have modified the Conditions Rule so that if we get another wet season the wet events will be scored on a fairer basis! There are still the odd soft times in each class! As has been said many times we do live in an "imperfect world" but we are trying to be even handed here to bring a balance and fairness to a competition that we all want to enjoy to one level or another! The SSOT is not sitting on its laurels either, we have set up a sub committee to consider alternative performance measurement systems that maybe able to replace our current TT system! So please put on your constructive thinking caps and look towards the future here, any regs from other championships whose systems you like please send us details, think up your own ideas, send them to us also, but please remember the rules must cater fairly for: Multiple Classes Multiple Venues A SINGLE competitior running on their own possibily multiple times per season and their times must score points in the SS I hope this helps to clarify what we have tried to achieve for 2017! We are running a Marketing Campaign to try attact more entrants so please do everything you can to get anyone you know to take part! Have a Great Christmas and Look Forward to a great SS season in 2017! Thanks G Have a Grea1 point
